Caesar’s Atlantic City a Slice of Vegas on the East Coast

caesarsVisitors to Atlantic City can’t help noticing Caesar’s Atlantic City. The second oldest casino in town, it’s also home to one of the most famous music venues in the country, the Circus Maximus Showroom. The 1,100 seat theater, which replaced the old 440-seat Cabaret Theater, has featured some of the biggest names in entertainment, including Diana Ross, Celine Dion, Buddy Hackett and Lionel Richie. But the venue has a lot more to recommend it than some of the hottest Vegas-style acts and performers. Caesar’s Atlantic City is a destination in and of itself, and many visitors to the Jersey Shore never set foot outside its 124,720 square feet of space. That’s little wonder once you realize everything that Caesar’s Atlantic City has to offer its guests.

Caesars’ Atlantic City History

In 1977, Caesars, already one of the biggest names on the Vegas Strip, purchased the old Howard Johnson’s Regency Motor Hotel – probably at bargain basement prices, thanks to HoJo’s bankruptcy. The corporation announced that it would add seven stories, 125 hotel rooms and a 52,000 square foot casino to the premises. The casino opened its doors as the Boardwalk Regency on June 26, 1979, becoming the second operating casino in New Jersey, despite an investigation by the state’s gambling commission into Caesars, the corporation. It did not become Caesars Boardwalk Regency until 1983, four years after its opening.

From the start, Caesars Entertainment booked big-name Vegas-style entertainment at Caesars Boardwalk Regency, with the biggest names playing the 440-seat Cabaret Theater. In 1985, the Boardwalk Regency replaced the Cabaret Theater with an elaborate 1,100 seat addition, the Circus Maximus Showroom. In 2007, Caesars unveiled a new renovation, replacing the nightclub tables with theater seats and re-opening Memorial Day weekend as the new Circus Maximus Theater. Headliner Carrie Underwood played to a sold-out crowd and set the tone – and expectations – for the newly-renovated theater. One reviewer noted having to stand in lines 10 deep to refill his drink, but noted his pleasure at the comfortable seating and the convenience of having assigned seats. The renovation added 500 seats to the already roomy theater, as well as a new million-dollar sound and lighting system.

Since then, Caesars Atlantic City concerts have included not only the biggest names in Vegas-style entertainment, but the biggest names across show business. In just the past year, Caesars Circus Maximus shows have included Crosby, Still, Nash & Young, Smokey Robinson, the Moody Blues, ZZ Top, Diana Krall, American Idol and – in a surprise one-night-only appearance, Al Pacino, starring in a one-man show.

More Than a Music Venue

Of course, Caesar’s Atlantic City is far more than a music venue. In addition to a 2000-slot casino – and other gambling attractions – the property boasts several themed bars and nightclubs, several restaurants, one of the hottest shopping experiences in Atlantic City and the renowned Qua Baths and Spa.  Guests planning to buy Leann Rimes concert tickets for her August show at Circus Maximus or other Caesars Atlantic City concert tickets would do well to book a room and settle in for a weekend, or a month. That’s not even counting the hundreds of local Jersey Shore attractions within walking distance of the stunning Roman-themed hotel and casino.

The Qua Spa

The Qua Baths and Spa at Caesars offer a unique experience for singles, couples and groups. From Roman Baths – complete with herbal steam rooms and plunge pools – to Crystal Body Art and Chakra Balancing, the spa is a delightful place to gear up for a concert, or wind down after one.

Dining at Caesars Atlantic City – Fine to Casual

The hotel boasts no less than 14 dining spots, with a little something for everyone. From the upscale contemporary Asian Buddakan at the Pier to the casual comfort of Caesars newest offering, Gordon Ramsay Pub and Grill, dining at Caesars is an experience to be remembered forever.

Clubbing at Caesars Atlantic City

Get down in the club at one – or more – of Caesars themed nightclubs. The newest offering, Retro, is an 80s-style club with a laid-back vibe and danceable music. Located on the second floor, it’s right in the middle of the gambling excitement, so visitors can nip in for a cocktail, or stay and dance the night away. Guests looking for a more cosmopolitan vibe can check into the exclusive, sophisticated Toga Club, which boasts one of the most upscale nightlife experiences in Atlantic City.

Shopping at Caesars

The Pier Shops at Caesars, located on a 900-foot pier above the Atlantic Ocean, has been hailed as a world-class shopping and dining destination. Featured shops include Burberry’s, Tiffany & Co. and Gucci. The view from the third level is one of the best that Atlantic City has to offer.
