aabWe have seen big stars tour before and have often heard frustration from fans when the best seats to the shows sell out quickly, but the latest Ed Sheeran tour is something we haven’t seen for a long time. It seems that as soon as he lists a concert date and opens up ticket sales, they sell out within minutes. So far, that’s happened in New York City, Berkeley, and Toronto. Luckily, the singer made the decision to add additional dates to his current tour to allow more fans the opportunity to get tickets to his shows.

How Ed Sheeran Got His Start

Ed Sheeran is one of the most popular singers performing today, but he didn’t come to be in the public’s eye until 2011. The singer has just released his second album “X” (Multiply), which is a follow up after three years of touring. Sheeran’s award winning first album “+” catapulted him to success, and the singer hasn’t slowed down since.  Sheeran first appeared on the music scene in 2011 in his home land of England.  After writing music for One Direction and being discovered by Jamie Foxx and Elton John, he hit pay dirt with “The A Team” a billboard hit single from his “+” album.   He followed it up with “Lego House” which was huge in London and the UK.  When his music hit the American airwaves, with help from Foxx, the artist quickly realized true international success.

Sheeran’s Hard Work has Paid Off

Ed Sheeran is no stranger to hard work, and no one can say that he didn’t work for the fame that he is enjoying now. In the beginning of his career, he toured three years in support of his album “+.”  Since then, he hasn’t stopped promoting his music, and just launched another tour in support of “X”.  Sheeran released an independent extended play in early 2011 that caught the attention of two superstars, who then helped Sheeran with his career. The lead single “Sing’ was met with huge fanfare and Sheeran won the MTV Awards for best male video.  He immediately released his second single “Thinking Out Loud” to great success, evidenced by the fact that his concerts are selling out as quickly as he can list new dates.  Sheeran will begin touring in the US after finishing his international tour in Ireland.  In all, Sheeran has won Best British Male Solo Artist, the British Breakthrough Act, the Ivor Novello Award, and Best New Artist at the 56th Grammy Awards. In addition, his songs “The A-Team and Lego House” were certified platinum in the UK.

Christina Perri Joins Sheeran’s Tour This Fall

Ed Sheeran will tour through July and then start his fall tour with special guest Christina Perri. The pair will first perform together on September 3 concert in Houston, TX at the BBVA Compass Stadium and continue together on the tour until September 23.  Perri will be singing songs from her latest album “Head OR Heart”.  “Human” the first single release from the album, has already been met with huge acclaim. Both of these performers would be worth the price of admission by themselves, but together they will surely put on a show that shouldn’t be missed. It’s rare to see two stars of his caliber together on the same stage, and even rarer to see both stars for the price of one ticket.
