Garth Brooks Ticket Sales Shatter Des Moines Record

Garth-Brooks-TourAs Garth Brooks finished up a three-night tour in Raleigh, North Carolina, his World Tour machine was getting ready to shatter records in Des Moines, Iowa. That’s par for the course for the long-time country music mega star. Breaking records is nothing new for him, but this one is pretty big even for him. Just three days ago, Brooks announced five additional shows at the Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines.

Why Did Garth Add More Shows?

The shows were necessary, the tour operators said, because of the unprecedented demand for Garth Brooks tickets. Brooks had originally scheduled one show at the Des Moines venue – an April 30 show that was announced March 2. The demand for tickets was so high, however, that the tour negotiated an additional five shows in order to accommodate the Des Moines are fans. The demand for Garth Brooks tickets in Iowa should be no big surprise, incidentally. While Brooks took a 15-year hiatus from touring, it’s been a full 20 years since the country idol played in Iowa. Back in 1996, Brooks played Ames, Iowa, and sold a record-breaking 42,391 tickets. This weekend, Garth sold out all six shows, for a combined 80,000 tickets.

The Reviews are Phenomenal!

Des Moines isn’t the only place where fans are finding it hard to get their hands on Garth Brooks tickets. The Garth Brooks World Tour, which kicked off in late December 2014 to rave reviews, shows no signs of winding down or losing steam. Fans from Boston to L.A. have been lining up to rock stadiums along with Brooks, who is joined on stage during this tour by wife Trisha Yearwood. The high energy shows are drawing rave reviews from critics, and Brooks, ever the affable, charming front man, has sat down with media in even the smallest cities to talk about his show, often discussing his last shows in those cities and towns with fondness. It’s his persona as much as his shows that make Brooks such a winner on tour circuit.

Garth Brooks’ Incredible Year

The Garth Brooks World Tour is doing something that only the biggest names manage – multi-night dates in multiple cities across the country. His three- and four-night shows regularly sell out in just about every market – but touring is not the only thing the country warhorse has been up to in the past year or so. It was just a little more than a year ago that Brooks announced the launch of his own digital music platform, a rival to iTunes, Amazon and other music merchants. GhostTunes is designed to give artists more control of their own catalogs, and is rapidly becoming a go-to music market for fans and bands alike.

Brooks also played at both the ACM and CMA awards shows, and was named 2015’s top earning country performer by Forbes, with documented earnings in excess of $90 million. The Garth Brooks World Tour was also named the top North American tour money maker for the first half of 2015, racking up more than $50 million in tour revenues by July.

While Garth Brooks tickets may be sold out through traditional outlets, ConcertBank.com still has tickets available for all upcoming Garth Brooks shows, including the recently sold out Des Moines Garth Brooks concerts at the Wells Fargo Arena.
