Kings of Leon Riding the Mechanical Bull

king of leonKings of Leon are continuing their Mechanical Bull tour after a forced hiatus in August, and they’re bringing down the house in town after town. The Ride the Bull tour kicked off in early summer to rave reviews, and they’re tearing it up again, if the critics are to be believed. KoL plays all of their big hits and throws in a smattering of fan favorite B-sides to keep the energy high, and their pop-country-rock meld of music is ably backed up by some of the best tech effects – including pyrotechnics – you’ll see in any show. Needless to say, the reviews have made tickets hard to get, but we’ve got Kings of Leon tickets for all their upcoming shows. Riding the Bull

If the Followill crew didn’t have bad luck, they just might not have any luck at all. The brothers-and-cousin band, Kings of Leon, have encountered just about every kind of misfortune that can befall a touring band. Back in June, one reviewer noted the many trials and tribulations of the Kings. His list included rained-out shows and venue fires, a bout with vomiting that took lead singer Caleb Followill off the stage mid-show and an episode when pigeons literally chased the band offstage by pooing on them at the St. Louis Verizon Amphitheater in 2010. The review goes on to laud the band’s performance and joke that perhaps the curse was finally broken. Not so much. Just a few weeks later, a fan jumped out in front of the crew’s tour bus, which slammed on the brakes and pitched drummer Nathan Followillout of his seat, resulting in broken ribs and forcing the band to cancel nearly all of their August dates.

Back on Track and Better than Ever

Ride the Bull is, of course, in support of the band’s latest title, Mechanical Bull, which features some seriously mature, stadium-ready sounds – but they’re not confining their set lists to their later music. In fact, they’re not confining their set lists much at all. One bit of news from the road is that the Kings of Leon has been varying their set list slightly, tailoring it for each show.

So put away your preconceptions about the Kings of Leon. What you’re going to see and hear from them on the Ride the Bull tour is a lot of hard-rocking with a more mature, more polished sound – but you never really know what will happen.
