Band of Brothers Debuts at No. 5
Willie Nelson’s newest album, Band of Brothers, did more than hit No. 1 on the Billboard Country chart – it debuted at No. 5 on the Billboard 200, which crosses all genres. Band of Brothers, which sold 37,000 copies in its first week, is the first Nelson album since 1996 to feature mostly new songs written by Nelson himself – and the fans have obviously been waiting for just this album. It’s not the last we’ll hear from Nelson, either. He’s already planning his next album release, December Day, and grinding out a tour schedule that would wear down many younger performers.
Musical Activist, Farm Champion
The redheaded stranger has never been shy about his activist leanings. As early as the 70s, he openly advocated against the war and for the environment. For the past few decades, though, Willie Nelson has championed the cause dearest to his heart – family farmers and good, healthy food. Nelson’s regular concert tour this fall will be interrupted by two very special benefit concerts,: Farm Aid, the iconic Aid concert in support of family farmers, and Harvest the Hope with Neil Young, in support of Bold Nebraska, Indigenous Environmental Network and the Cowboy & Indian Alliance, to fund the ongoing fight against the Keystone XL pipeline, as well as a number of small, community-based clean energy projects on farms and tribal lands.
