Dion’s Recent Loss Drives Support

The loss has been difficult for both the singer and her children, but she manages to put it into perspective. “So the man of my life was my partner, and we were one,” she says. “So when he stopped suffering, I said to myself, ‘he’s OK.’ And he deserves not to suffer.”
Angelil was 26 years older than Dion, and she met him when she was only 12 years old. He was a music manager. “I thought he was very beautiful,” she says. “He looked great. I felt confident that this man was not treating me as a, ‘Oh, hi, little pumpkin.’ Or, ‘Hi, little sweetie,’ or like a little baby.”
When asked if she thought she would fall in love again, she said he wasn’t looking to do that anytime soon. “I love him,” she says of her late husband. “I’m still in love with him. And I have the love of my children. I have the love of my fans. I love the people that I work with. So my life is not empty of love.”
Pink Writes a Song for Dion
In a show of support, superstar Pink wrote a song for Dion about her loss titled “Recovery.” Dion debuted it at one of her shows. As for Pink, Dion is enormously grateful for the support. “She is phenomenal,” says Dion of Pink. “I love her for her talent, for her strength, for her focus, the person she is.” When Dion saw Pink at the Billboard Music Awards, she told her ‘For you to take the time to really write a song, to give me a tool, a piece of luggage to help me to move forward to walk to keep going…”
