Maybe I'm just getting too old, but I don't find Brian Posehn funny anymore. He's all dick jokes and no substance. Granted, he's upfront about it, greeting the audience on his latest album Fart and Wiener Jokes with "Take off your thinking caps," but his album is aggressively, disappointingly stupid. Lewis Black once joked that he used the word "fuck" to stall for time while he thought of other words. If that's true, then Posehn must not be thinking at all. Not that he isn't trying, though...

The Relapse logo on comedian Brian Posehn's debut album pretty much says it all: if his fellow "Mr. Show" alum David Cross is the funnyman of choice for indie-rockers, Posehn speaks to another perennial underclass-- the metal-heads. Or rather, thirtysomething middle-class metal heads who, between getting married, walking the dog, and mowing the lawn, have lost the follicular capabilities to bang a full head of hair. On more than one occasion on Live In: Nerd Rage...

It's unlikely one will encounter a more aptly-titled album this year than comedian Brian Posehn's Live In: Nerd Rage. Posehn's perplexing size and shape disintegrate before the warbling howl that is his voice, a banshee at 16 rpm driven by surfer DNA, peppered with wookie-like extra chromosomes...

First comedy record from our favorite Mr. Show Sideman and self professed metal nerd Brian Posehn. Embarassing tales of sex (or lack of), life as a teenage metalhead as well as lots of swearing and silliness. PLUS, two songs featuring Posehn on vocals, one with Titannica from Mr. Show, the other, with the obviously named Posehn, both featuring members of Anthrax, Armored Saint and White Zombie....

Balding, bitter potheads who love "real" heavy metal and Star Wars -- the real trilogy, not the ponderous prequel stuff -- never had a better friend than self-professed nerd Brian Posehn, a strange fellow you might recognize from his work on Just Shoot Me or Mr. Show (although his "Gibbons" creation on Adult Swim's Tom Goes to the Mayor is his ultimate unsettling creation)...
