Sound: This album has a very atmospheric sound, something typical of Caifanes, pop with touches of metal and hard rock as the songs are usually full of small guitar riffs as well as very good basslines, also they use many elements of percussion giving it a touch Latino folklore. They really have a unique style and sound, I totally recommend it to all of you, I bet you will be surprised...

The last album released before Caifanes changed their name to Los Jaguares is a triumph of progressive pop-metal entwined with Latin ideas. Though the group is often compared to U2 the two have never sounded less similar; the band developed a harder style here that comes close to early Metallica territory at times. Though Saul Hernandez is a near match for Bono in his histrionic style and socially conscious lyrics, he adopts a low croon for many of these songs...

Having Adrian Belew produce a Caifanes album must have seemed like a great idea, since the Mexican band had a musical attack as accomplished and eclectic as Belew's own work. Unfortunately, the pairing just doesn't strike sparks here. Belew's influence shows up throughout the album, which has more jittery rhythms and odd dissonances than other albums by the band. This works fine on a few cuts, such as the lively "Nubes," but over the course of the album it is a distraction...
