Sound: Collective Soul has a great knack for finding cool riffs. The only problem with these riffs is that they don't really mix up the song at all. Usually, they use the same riff the whole song. That said, the riffs still are really awesome. I haven't listened to any of Collective Soul's normal CD's, but every song on this greatest hits album is excellent. Collective Soul has a really laid back, relaxed style to their music...

Sound: Collective Soul's latest release's sound is stripped in every way. There's drums on a couple of tracks other then those two tracks it is "acoustic" rock. The album was done because they did some of the songs in that way to start out on the albums they came off of. It's nice solid 6 string music that accompanies the ear like a new Strat. // 8 Lyrics and Singing: As usual Ed Roland wrote all the songs on here and 2 of them are new songs...

Sound: This album is absolute genius. The sound is an alternative rock type music with the use of lots or other instruments such as trumpets wich blend brilliantly into the song. I would say on an even par with the hit album "7 Year Itch." These guys just came back after a couple years and dissed their label, so they had to fork out of their pockets to put out this CD. // 10 Lyrics and Singing: This is a half half situation because Most of the lyrics are amazing and soothe your mind...

The Georgia band Collective Soul has chosenan apt title, Blender, for their fifth album; every song feels like apuree of alt-rock tropes (a little U2 bombast here, a littleSmashing Pumpkins breathy balladry there). Not even the fewexotic spicings ? a darker, more industrial vibe, a Beatles-likeduet with Elton John ? can save the stew. Soul controller EdRoland displays an effortless knack for pop formula, but theslick production is missing one key ingredient: personality.

There's something eerily uplifting about the rah-team shuffler "Run," an anthem featured on both this and the soundtrack to Varsity Blues. Thanks to Ed Roland's smoky vocals and sensitive acoustic chords, it conjures a vibe of adolescent urgency. And Roland's no second-stringer ? there are plenty more pop touchdowns in the Dosage game for Collective Soul.

"Shine," Collective Soul's across-the-board hit, is basically a power ballad for 13-year-old girls, only with noisy Nirvana-style guitar shocks. And it isn't even these Georgians' mostingenious tune-that would be "Scream," an improved imitation of Axl Rose's imitation of hard-core punk. Otherwise, they occasionally mixclassical and industrial sounds into jangly metal on Hints Allegations and Things Left Unsaid, and they havelovely haircuts. Bubble-gum grunge: an idea whose time has come.

Sound: Collective Soul is one of the most underrated bands in my opinion. This album shows their skill. I like their sound and style of music. This CD is full of hits and good songs. The best songs are The World I Know, December, and Gel. Ross Childress shows his lead guitar skill on this album. // 10 Lyrics and Singing: Ed Roland is a very skillful songwriter. His talents are showcased in the amazing ballad The World I Know. He really evolved from the first album...

Sound: Collective Soul is polished to perfection, but somehow, and quite miraculously, the band avoids that sterile, "too clean" sound. But there's no denying that the album sounds fantastic and crisp as a Fall day...

Sound: Collective Soul makes another great record with the 1999 release "Dosage." The album contains acoustic guitar to effects that you don't even hear anymore. The record has a fresh sound that is close enough to new but stays in the same territiory with songs like "Run," "Compliment" and "Heavy." // 8 Lyrics and Singing: Ed Roland doesn't surprise here. He writes lyrics that take in so well with the mood and feeling of the record is is almost sick. The song "Compliment" is a great example...
