Eagles of Death Metal Reviews

For every Eagles Of Death Metal devotee letting loose the devil horns, there's usually a dumbfounded friend using those same digits to scratch his head. What's so polarizing about a pair of sex-obsessed, former high-school pals getting their teenage garage-rocks off, anyway? Perhaps it has something to do with the notion that one of said pals, drummer Josh Homme, saves his "real" art for Queens Of The Stone Age...

Sound: Can you hear it? More importantly, can you feel it? It's the Eagles of Death Metal bringing the rhythm and blues back from the sixties with enough guts and gusto you would swear you were back in the sixties. Eagles of Death Metal have recharged their batteries after recording their new album Heart On in Hollywood and have burst back into the spotlight with more energy than ever...

Sound: With so many bands attempting to create the ultimate intellectual, philosophical, and musical opus, a miracle of nature has managed to emerge. Yes, one tongue-in-cheek band wants you to rock hard and they don't need than more than a few chords to do it. In a world where musicians love to take themselves way too seriously, the Eagles Of Death Metal's Death By Sexy proves that sometimes all you need to rock is a few chords and some trashy lyrics -- all is good fun, of course...

This band is full of energy, spunk, and just about amazing clever-ness. Its first song titled, "I Only Want You" has a great intro that gets your head and body moving to the beat. Its chorus carries itself wonderfully and flows so well that it truly completes the song. The song "Flames Go Higher" has a great intro with a cool drum beat that is used throughout the song. The beginining of the song has such a wonderful hook that in the beginning you already know you will like the song...

You know that feeling you get when you're cruising down the Sunset Strip in your lipstick red 1968 Plymouth Roadrunner, lazily dragging on a Marlboro, checking out barely legal, leggy, fishnet wearing blondes on your way to check out the your well connected mate's blues rock band at the Viper Room? No? Oh...

Rockâ??nâ??rollâ??s favourite 7 foot redhead is back again, with his falsetto singing hillbilly friend for another round of swamp blues and southern soul, but is it as fun second time around? The answerâ?¦**** no. Hommeâ??s side project debut came in 2004 and had the hallmarks of a veteran musician attempting to branch out and just have fun, either that or he was trying to keep up with Dave Grohlâ??s exploits and explorations into new music, either way it sounded pretty cool...

What a name for a band, one of the best I have heard. Anyone not having heard of the band would assume Eagles Of Death Metal are actually a Death Metal band, but that's far from correct. Jesse Hughes and Joshua Homme have something special here. They are just out to have a laugh, and what better way to achieve this but to create garage rock at its most unique through the majesty of song. The whole album has a southern rock vibe, with lashings of cowboy boots and spurs...

Heart On is ultra good because EODM's sound has matured without selling out its heartbeat (sex, girls, sex, more sex, with girls). "I was trying to butt-fuck The Rolling Stones with Devo," Jesse Hughes told me, regarding Heart On. While that sounds ridiculous, it's apt. From (somewhat Stones-esque) opener Anything 'Cept the Truth on down, this gets down fo' real, yet resists napping in the gutters of sleaze-soaked boogie rock, skimming but not laying on that barrel's bottom...
