Ah, Five Finger Death Punch. If there was ever a need for testosterone filled, middle fingers lifted, I don't care... I care too much, love me or hate me brand of modern metal, Five Finger have got a dose big enough to keep that need at bay - continually. It's 2013 and as of now Five Finger Death Punch have released an onslaught of records all bolstered by remixes, live cuts, acoustics and cover tracks, only to hint at doing something memorable...

Sound: While the earlier installment released mid-2013 received generally favorable reactions from fans and critics alike, the second half of the "The Wrong Side of Heaven and the Righteous Side of Hell" has yet to prove itself - so let's sit down and have a listen. First off, you have to approach Five Finger Death Punch understanding that they are basically "party metal...

Sound: Heavy metal is for outsiders, we know that. Its aggression and subversive ideology ensure its anchorage to the underground, regardless of the offshoots which break the mainstream from time to time. That's the reason it will last a lifetime, but take a moment to consider the people swept up by those commercial trends, the fans for whom the passing of time has dragged them kicking and screaming from the music they loved. Nu metal is a prime example...

Sound: American Capitalist is the latest Five Finger Death Punch release. Prior to its release this record was hyped as "The album that will define the Five Finger Death Punch sound". And I pray to god it does. The guitar is in that classic FFDP drop B and the solos have new reign on this album. The bass is unbelievably solid and the drums are aggressive and hectic. Finally the mix of clean vocals and growls is remarkable and the lyrics are intelligent and angry as always...

Sound: The Way of the Fist is Five Finger Death Punch's debut album (released mid-2007 by Firm Records). Since it's release, FFDP's found itself on popular tours such as FVT and MayhemFest (speaking from personal experience, they sound just as epic live). Some of the band's popularity may be attributed to the 'The Bleeding' single which hit top 40 upon it's release a couple months before their album...

Release Date: October 11, 2011 Ever hear the proverb "Don't judge a book by its cover"? I must confess, I am a regular violator of that virtue; a great disappointment to my mother. One of the more recent victims of my judgmental tendencies was the Los Angeles based quintet; Five Finger Death Punch. Please don't misunderstand me. I never had anything against the band, I was simply uninterested...

There is a very important reason why Five Finger Death Punch has essentially become the face of metal in America. In many ways, their outward appearance personifies every stereotype that pop culture makes about the modern-day metal listener, just as much as their music matches the preconceptions made about metal by most non-metal listeners...
