Fuel Reviews

Avg. Customer Rating:
5.0 (based on 9 reviews)

Sound: This CD is a great example of dynamics in music. Like bands such as Nirvana, they do the quiet verse loud chorus thing on a few songs. Then, on others, they are quiet the whole time and loud the whole time. The guitars and drums are louder than the vocals, pulling you in to listen to more than just the lyrics. // 8 Lyrics and Singing: The lyrics are wonderfully written. Great metaphors that give you vivd pictures of what the song is about...

Sound: If you're a fan of radio friendly hard rock with catchy hooks and lyrics and scratchy yet emotionally charged vocals, Fuel is exactly what you're looking for. From the angst and bitterness of the chaotic opener "Last Time," to the desperation and heartbroken lyrics of the anthemic "Hemorrhage (In My Hands)", to the simple, mid-tempo "Bad Day", to the Alice in Chains-ish "Down", this album is loaded with 12 underrated modern rock classics...

Sound: It's been 4 years since Fuel has released a studio album of original material, and the band's latest release Angels & Devils is not the most satisfying follow-up. First off, you have to wrestle with the fact there are a few newcomers in Fuel. The distinctive voice of former member Brett Scallions has been replaced by Toryn Green, while drumming duties have been placed with newcomer Tommy Stewart...

Sound: Fuel, what a great frickin band. This CD is no different. I first got Something Like Human and thought that was a great CD but let me tell you this one blows their last two efforts out of the water. When they first hit the scene in '98 with their major label debut, they sounded great. 7 years later they are still absolutely amazing. This is their darkest record to date, which is not a bad thing. Natural Selection has spent almost a month in my CD player and still going strong...

The Harrisburg, Pa., outfit Fuel delivers a worthy follow-up to the platinum Sunburn in Something Like Human. With fusillades like "Hemorrhage" and "Scar," the band has morechops than a butcher shop. But when it comes to passion, Fuelruns low. Luckily, Bret Scallions' excoriating voice makes up forCarl Bell's rather clinical-sounding music.

An unstoppable marketing machine may have passed Fuel by when "American Idol" finalist Chris Daughtry declined an invitation to join the band, but new release "Angels and Devils" suffers none musically at the hands of Toryn Green. In fact, in terms of sheer vocal ability, Fuel might be better served by the previously-unheard-of frontman...

Sound: Out of all the hard rock artists to come out of the '90s, Fuel was one who has made it clear that they don't plan on stopping. After losing a drummer and a singer, Carl Bell and Jeff Abercrombie keep on going. The basic formula for a Fuel song is to have a strong guitar and catchy chorus. All of these song do exactly that. Fuel may have only released 3 albums, but their sound feels like it has been honed for years. // 9 Lyrics and Singing: Carl Bell's lyrics are great...

These platinum-selling post-grungers specialize in stadium-size melodrama: Natural Selection overflows with Creed-y choruses, overdriven guitars and bad high school poetry. Only for hard-core fans. CHRISTIAN HOARD
