Godsmack Reviews

Sound: Godsmack is a hard rock band, and I fear to say that they are metal because of all of the softer more deep songs they have. Godsmack has a great sound, and a talented front man, who can sing, play the harmonica, the guitar, and the drums, and their lead guitarist has some amazing riffs, as well as the bassist, not to forget the fast drummer. // 10 Lyrics and Singing: In the lyrics of this CD I found personally, besides the in your face lyrics, some intese light-hearted meaning in it...

Sound: I thought the soound was great. The guitars in it were great and it has a nice little vibe to it. The way they took 4 of their really good songs and did it acoustic was amazing. Plus the other new songs were great too. The three new songs that they did for this album were extremeley good too. I loved how they balanced the music with good lyrics. It just goes to show that Godsmack has amazing talent. // 10 Lyrics and Singing: The lyrics were great...

Sound: Ok, I think this is a great cd. It's got some great guitar parts and some bad ones like every album. I like tony with his Wah's throughout different songs. There's great solos in there. These days, only the daring guitarist's go for the solos, I respect rombola for that. And I once again like the style of this album. // 10 Lyrics and Singing: I think the lyrics are good, typical Sully Erna lyrics. I think the lyrics go great w/rombola's guitar parts...

Sound: This is by far one of the most hard hitting hard rock/metal albums I've ever heard in my life. Almost every song just smacks you in the face 200 times (pardon the reference to Keep Away) with detuned madness, great drum work and powerful vocals. If you like aggressive powerful music this is THE album you must listen to. // 10 Lyrics and Singing: Unfortunately, the lyrics are a little on the corny side on some of the songs but that shouldnt stop you from giving this album a listen...

Sound: This albums sound differs from the other records. The guitars are more along the heavy line. The drums are kicked into high gear and Sully brings out more of a range in his voice. Not to mention the harmonica opening and solo on the song "Shine Down." // 10 Lyrics and Singing: The Lyrics on this record are beyond typical Godsmack. The record was writen by the whole band this time, not just Sully. So you see more of a musical apperance and less metal more music...

In 1998, Boston's Godsmack were regarded as too similar to Alice In Chains. On 2001's Awake, the double-platinum disc was considered somewhat of a failure as it did not have the "hooks" of their debut. Faceless is also being met with varied reviews. Still, frontman Sully Erna is the complete package, and their entire catalogue has been a bendy trip right through the heart of nu metal. Faceless is the kind of music heavy rock fans wished Metallica had done post-Black...

Godsmack are a Boston-based band led by frontman Sully Erna. Their first album started out as a self-released CD recorded in 1996 for about $2,500 with money they borrowed from friends. How times have changed. Changes is a no-holds-barred behind-the-scenes documentary style DVD with an up close and personal look at life on the road with one of America's top selling rock acts...

"What explains our enduring fascination with vampires?" asks a voice from the multiplatinumhorror show Awake. Better to ask what explains our revived fascinationwith ham-fisted heavy metal. Mixing generic riff-grinding withindustrial pneumatics, Black Sabbath-keeper Sully Erna howlsabout hate and, infrequently, a related emotion. Some popmonsters, like Eminem, are terrifyingly human. The biker mooks Godsmack represent like B-movie body snatchers. Fast-forward. C-

For those who love Black Sabbath more than Santa Claus, and would trade their firstborn for a lock of James Hetfield's hair, multiplatinum metal proselytizers Godsmack seem like a gimme. Except that almost everything about them comes off like a cheap, store-brand version of the genre's best: old Pantera riffs, turgid Alice in Chains imagery, sub-Metallica howls. The Oracle is not terrible, just thoroughly second-rate.
