In Flames Reviews

Avg. Customer Rating:
5.0 (based on 9 reviews)

Sound: This is the first recording of In Flames that's comparable to most mainstream acts. It's the best CD by In Flames ever with 14 tracks. It's the first CD I bought (I now have them all), and it's still my favorite. There is less keyboard than STYE, but it still manages to be very catchy. Ander's first CD with decent vocals. // 10 Lyrics and Singing: Honestly, Lunar Strain and TJR were both crap lyrics. Whoracle had the worst lyrics, but it wasn't written by anyone in In Flames...

Sound: From the first pounding intro riff of Bullet ride, this album shows it's class and sweeps you away as the production marks the finest hour of this band's LPs. In Flames have used a few clear tricks that remain consistent throughout the record. This factor alone (recognisable consistency in style) is enough to praise any album and adds logevity and variability to a band's back catelogue. Point one, is the implicit echo/delay throughout, especially with the vocals...

Sound: Well, thank God for that. The guitar harmonies are back. Being basically their fanbase's favourite aspect of their music, In Flames were a bit foolish to lose them for their last album, Soundtrack To Your Escape. That wasn't a bad album in my opinion, but it was definitely nothing on their earlier, and far more metal work...

Sound: In Flames fans have been incredibly divided by their output since the new millennium. Their two albums 'Reroute To Remain' and 'Soundtrack To Your Escape' are continually criticised as being 'nu metal' and too commercial, especially when put next to classics like 'The Jester Race'. However, their last album, 2006's 'Come Clarity' was a definite step back towards their earlier, more melodic sound...

Sound: In Flames has created a concept album that is a must hear for any heavy metal fan. Starting with 'Jotun' and climaxing at the well known 'Episode 666', Whoracle is an album that delivers intriguing lyrics, mesmerizing guitar riffs, and a stunning overall sound and production. Producer Fredrik Nordström (At The Gates, Dark Tranquility) does an amazing job with this album...

Sound: This was In Flames first album and in my opinion one of their best. This album has Mikael Stanne on vocals instead of Anders Friden, so vocal wise it's different to their later albums. This is probably their most diverse and experimental album, and for the most part it pays off. 01. Behind Space - this is easily my favorite song on the album. This starts off with a fast and catchy riff which is joined by pounding drums and a loud scream from Stanne...

Sound: This album was the first In Flames album I bought and I just made the purchase on a whim. This album is simply amazing. In Flames prove they are one of the greatest melodic death metal bands around. Jesper Stromblad and Bjorn Gellote are amazing guitarists and prove it time and again on this album. They use constant melodies over hard-hitting riffs to create an amazing sound. The drumming of Daniel Svennson is impecable...

Sound: The overall sound of this album as compared to that of Reroute to Remain is very similar in design yet lacking of individuality. I don't think In Flames really changesd their sound enough for this album to make it really unique and the rhythms during the verses seem to be very similar to those on some of their other albums. Also the biggest bug about this album was this dumb percussive sound I kept hearing too much. It started to get on my nerves after a while...

Sound: If you listen to classic In Flames records such as 'Colony' and 'The Jester Race', that helped define the melodic death metal genre, and then listen to more recent tracks like 'Scream' or 'F(r)iend', the considerable difference can often spark a negative reaction, and has done in In Flames' core fanbase for years now. But you know what...
