"Does the word 'duh' mean anything to you?"
Lagwagon were the first band signed to Fat Wreck Chords, and along with founder Fat Mike's NOFX as well as No Use for a Name and Propaghandi, Lagwagon had a major hand in shaping the sonic aesthetics of the label early on, a sound that was cohesive enough for a teenage Greg0rb to mail-order things from the label's print zine without even hearing a note...

Summary: This is the version of Duh that every fan will want to own. Lagwagon is easily one of the best punk bands to come out of the early nineties, and their albums are finally receiving the remaster-and-reissue treatment. For those that don't know, Duh was Lagwagon's debut album and featured a very unrefined version of what they would eventually become. It was an album that flirted with serious topics and random humor without any real sense of direction, but it worked...

Release Date - November 22, 2011 How do you review a collection of tracks by a band that has been around since you were still in grade school? That is the question I asked myself when I took on the daunting task of Lagwagon, a band synonymous with royalty when it comes to punk rock. Looking at a collection as massive as Putting Music In Its Place is quite the task to say the least. Five records, something like 140 songs...

Duh distinguishes itself from the rest of Lagwagon's reissues with a bit of added context: it's their first album. That means that the usual collection of similar-sounding demos comes with an added look into the band's beginnings. In the case of this two-disc set, that taste comes with a bundle of Section 8 songs ? demos from Joey Cape and Chris Flippin's pre-Lagwagon, politically inspired-metal band...

FULL DISCLOSURE:: In buying the Putting Music in Its Place box set, it was in many cases my third time buying each album across different formats. Which is to say, I'm a pretty big Lagwagon fan (or, I'm pretty bad with money. Perhaps both). But, that's really who this collection is for--big Lagwagon fans...

Do not underestimate the power of music to transport you back to a different time and place. At first, when I received this box set featuring Lagwagon's five first LPs - plus tons of bonus tracks (demos, outtakes, b-sides, etc.), a live DVD and extended liner notes - I thought, "Why...

Sound: Lagwagon is one of the original Fat Wreck Chords Bands. They have that great '90s Califoria surf-punk sound. While not quite the "hardcore-punk" they are very original and memorable. I can't say they sound like anyone at all, just Lagwagon. With catchy lyrics and a great surf-punk sound you literaly can't go wrong with. Guys even you girlfriends will like it, that means you don't have to listen to the gay @ss radio...
