Mumford and Sons. Photograph: Barry J. Holmes/Barry J Holmes PICK OF THE WEEK Mumford And Sons Hopeless Wanderer (Island) Reading this on mobile? Click here to view I can't pretend any longer. I've made jokes about their Cotton Traders tweed slacks, derided their soggy-biscuit upbringing and heckled incessantly throughout their Glastonbury set ("Play the one about compost!"). But I can't do it any more. I. Like. Mumford. This song is great...

Mumford and Sons have recently released their new debut album, 'Babel'. So as a long time fan, I was stoked to hear it. Also, I was really hoping that they didn't changed their sound and/or style. I am happy to say, they did not disappoint. When I listened to the first track called, 'Babel', it was a great song choice to start off the album. It's pretty much an epic start and doesn't stop until the end. After the second track, I was already hooked. One song after the other did not bring me down...

So it's no coincidence, it seems, that the band's highly anticipated sophomore record begins exactly where we might expect, and the rest of LP that follows proves that this isn't an attempt to smash any expectations with a sudden progression of their style. For those devotees looking for the Mumfords to evolve drastically, well, you're out of luck. But who would that audience be, anyway...

24 Reasons Not To Buy The New Album From Mumford And Sons: 1. It's awful. 2. It's the only way they'll learn. 3. They're called Mumford And Sons. Band names should be the kind of the thing you want to scrawl on a pencil case. Scrawl Mumford And Sons on anything and people will think you've been given a promotional item from a haulage firm. 4. Every time you play it an angel loses his wings. 5. It will bring you 47 minutes and four seconds closer to your inevitable death. 6...

When Mumford and Sons lead singer Marcus Mumford started spitting out the lyrics of the title track of the band's new album Babel, I knew that I would love this album. He projects himself as the James Hetfield of alt-country, and then, just as suddenly, he quiets down to a Dave Matthews-esque whisper. It's intoxicating...

Here's a f***ing weather report. Right now, we live in the f***ing piss torrents of a perma-f***ing c***shower and in such a f***ing world, conditions have deteriorated to the f***ing point where f***ing Mumford And Sons can get to reach Number f***ing one on both sides of the f***ing Atlantic, with their faux, "Golly, wouldn't it be jolly to be poor, capering around the junkyard wearing neckerchiefs and being authentic" chic. Who buys this septic f***ing horseshit...

Mumford and Sons shot to worldwide acclaim with their debut album, Sigh No More. Now, they're back and as great as ever with their follow-up, Babel. Opening title track "Babel" jumps straight into the banjo riffs, fingerpicking and strumming of guitars that has become trademark Mumford. Lead single "I Will Wait" is inspiring and fills the listener with an incommunicable joy, the type of song that makes your heart soar and brings tears to your eyes...

Mumford & Sons brought the music world to its knees with their debut release of 2009, Sigh No More, and are set to do it all again with follow-up Babel. Deftly side-stepping that awkward second-album questionability, the folk rock troubadours stay true to their sound while recording in such a way it often feels the band are right there, rocking out with you in your lounge room (some tracks were recorded live). There's that old saying, if it ain't broke... well, it most certainly is not broke...

The music of Mumford & Sons is like the music of That Guy Who Plays Acoustic Guitar At The Party. He picks up the guitar and a half-circle of people forms around him. He croons sensitive tunes and everyone swoons. People may or may not decide to use improvised percussion instruments to accompany him. The party has a warm and rustic epicenter, a chorus of drunk people singing "American Pie" or "Wagon Wheel" at the top of their lungs. An hour and a half later, the jam is still going...
