New Found Glory Reviews

This year's Rockstar Energy Drink tour is an interesting lineup: a co-headlining outing between New Found Glory and Alkaline Trio with openers H2O. I found it interesting because at the turn of the century, the lineup could have easily been flipped around, with H2O headlining (they were on MCA supporting Go at that point), Alkaline Trio as direct support, and A New Found Glory as the freshmen openers...

Genre: Rock Year: 2004 Country: USA Official Site: New Found Glory Details: Tracks & Audio Label: Drive-Thru New Found Glory crashed into the over-crowded bus of blink-182 sound-alike bands in 2000 and actually managed to carve out for themselves a small, but promising place in the future of the post-punk revival. That promise is severely diminished with their newest effort Catalyst their forth major label record in almost as many years, however...

Release Date: June 11th, 2002 The phrases "pop-punk is dead" and "defend pop-punk" are very misleading; why should we defend pop-punk when pop-punk has been alive and well for as long as the genre has been around, at least in its modern form, anyway. I'm turning 20 this year, and while I know I'm a bit too young to remember the early 00s pop-punk scene, I'm certainly been quite in tune with the past few years...

Sound: New Found Glory are familiar to most, so and in depth analysis is unnecessary. The quality is similar to that of their self-titled record, so it's not quite as polished as their most recent record. This EP features covers of movie themes, reworked and recorded in New Found Glory's trade mark style. // 9 Lyrics and Singing: These are not original songs, so the lyrics are those that were originally written for the original versions that appeared in the films...

Sound: If any of you have read what NFG said about the record before it wa released you'd know they described it as a journey back to the early/mid 90's pop/punk. Influenced heavily by Green Day's "Dookie" and Rancid's "Lets Go" and others of the like. Its not entirely that sound, in that its still very much a New Found Glory album, but it has massive elements of those albums in. Very simple chord progressions, straight forward structures and simple, easy listening but infectious melodies...

Sound: Well to start off, New Found Glory really changed their sound a lot compared to their previous albums. Instead of sticking with their pop-punk tone they actually advanced to a more mature state of sound. They took their time with this CD, spending over 4 months to record. The styles used in the creation varied from vocal and guitar effects all the way to keyboard riffs and much reverb. The sound quality sounds great on every song which is probably one of the best things about this album...

Sound: This is one band and one album that, like an elegant 17th century-era handlebar moustache, will take a while to grow on you, but the end result is a warm feeling of satisfaction. This is New Found Glory's (NFG) fourth studio album, and it has even become a gold-selling record. It was my first experience of NFG, and initally I was underwhelmed and, I hate to say it, quite repulsed by it...

Sound: Hailing from Coral Springs, Florida, NFG combines hard-core, emo, and rock in an attempt to reinterpret the once narrow definition of "punk". Distorted amps and catchy choruses, combined with versatility and passionate energy give this band a sound that stands out among the army of guitar wielding clones that have recently flooded the punk music scene. Tight harmonies and grabby riffs aside though, this band still needs some time to mature. Why...
