Orgy Concert Tickets

The members of Orgy -- Jay Gordon (vocals), Amir Derakh (guitar-synths), Ryan Shuck (guitar), Paige Haley (bass), and Bobby Hewitt (drums) -- have described their music as "Death Pop" in the past, but few agree on what to call their blend of rock, metal and electronica. The band was formed in Los Angeles, California in 1997 and signed to Korn's Elementree record label soon after. They quickly released their first album, "Candyass. Orgy Reviews

Sound: To talk about Orgy's sound, it's a bit hard to classify, for they do have quite an original sound. Its basically industrial, but with a rock/nu-metal feel to it, and with some traces of pop as well. Long-time fans of Orgy will either love or hate this album. On Punk Statik Paranoia, Orgy drop some of their poppy sound and replace it with some slightly heavier guitar riffs...

Unlike every other neo-metal outfit, the nail polish-wearing robo-rockers Orgy are refreshingly devoid of hip-hop influence. Instead, theirsharp, sci-fi-inspired sounds draw from Ziggy-esque glam rock, animalistic Marilyn Manson mechanics, and even new-wave synth.Though an aura of paranoia permeates the proceedings, Orgy'scampy Orwellian visions make Vapor Transmission more fun thanfrightful. Orgy's 1998 debut, Candyass, was a skewed, heavy industrial take on all the nu-metal hard stuff coming out of L.A., and their cover of New Order's Blue Monday and the song Stitches broke the band that held close ties with the guys in Korn. The less impressive Vapor Transmission (2000) followed, and just when you thought the final nail had been hammered home, the boys crash out of the casket with Punk Statik Paranoia...

Sound: Orgys 2nd ablum Vapor Transmission takes you into thie synth teckno world at first but it is very unique and not alot of bands can take on this sound yet alone sound great with that I love their sound and Jay's vocals. // 8 Lyrics and Singing: My overall impression of this cd was holy f--ck this band is great after Candyass I wasnt expecting it to be as eltronic as this album is but it's my favorite album out of the three they have out...

Sound: Orgy's sound is very unique. Their sound is more industrial like like Nine Inch Nails except they use guitars and synthesizers to make the machine sounds. The collaboration with the synthesizer and the guitar sounds sweet. Amir and Ryan pull off that combination. Paige sounds good on bass. Though the most credit should go to the drummer Bobby Hewitt. In the beginning of Blue Monday he goes crazy and he keeps the rythm going. // 10 Lyrics and Singing: The lyrics were pretty good...

Aiming to fill the Queenhole by injecting videogame sci-fi and radio-head sonics into a pop-metal base, the Korn protegees forge a "startling vision of a future world in which communications technology has been turned against us, becoming a tool for government surveillance rather than personal convenience." Gosh, how'd they think of that? Heavy is a mission with them, I guess. Glam too, you should see their costumes--Bowie does Star Trek, 1974. When it gets this silly it can be fun sometimes...

Amusingly, Los Angeles nu-metal types Orgy look like Duran Duran after being chewed on by giant robots. The problem is, as this hugely stupid sci-fi concept album grinds on towards the 30th century, they sound that way, too. The pedigree is hard to argue with: signed to Jonathan 'Korn' Davis' label, platinum-selling debut called 'Candyass' behind them, their own complicated (alright, downright unreadable) typeface available to download on the Internet.....
