Reel Big Fish Concert Tickets

Reel Big Fish ("RBF") is a ska punk band from Huntington Beach, California, United States who broke into the mainstream in the mid to late 1990s, formed in 1992. Their debut album, "Everything Sucks" (1995), was an underground hit and led to a deal with MOJO RECORDS (see also Mojo), an indie label. "Turn The Radio Off" (1996) established the band in the underground music scene, and they began touring throughout the USA. Reel Big Fish Reviews

Avg. Customer Rating:
5.0 (based on 9 reviews)

It may seem downright ridiculous that in the year 2012, Reel Big Fish are not only releasing new music, but it sounds like they picked up where they left off in 1997. The thing is, Aaron Barrett and his crew understand this fact better than anyone--and they unabashedly embrace it. Reel Big Fish have not matured. There is no "organic progression...

Sound: After longing to release a live album, the fish have finally done it. They were dropped from their previous label, who wouldn't let them make a live album. This is essentially a greatest hits record and has the big hits like Sell Out and Take On Me, but it also has a few new tracks, including a cover of The Cure's 'Boys Don't Cry'. it's a great 2 CD and 1 DVD set. The talking, or witter banter as Aaron refers to it as, is hilarious...

Sound: Reel Big Fish are considered in my books to be one of the most catchy ska bands of the '90s. They weren't the most technical band in the world but they knew how to put a song together. It isn't the tightist record quality wise but that doesn't take away from the music. // 9 Lyrics and Singing: Aaron Barret doesn't write the most meaningful lyrics but he writes the kind of music that anyone can relate to in one way or another...

Sound: Reel Big Fish return with their latest album in a decent attempt to revive the third wave ska scene. This is their most recent album since Cheer Up! (2002) however, this album was well worth the wait. This album has much more ska on it, as apposed to punk/pop/straight rock. The horn section is probably less prominent on this album and more keyboards/synthesisers have been used. 01. The Fire - nice guitar parts, lively tempo. Reminds me slightly of Operation Ivy's "Sound System" 8/10...

Sound: Reel Big Fish is the only ska band I listen to, this being my favorite album of theirs. Aaron Barrett is an amazing guitar player, able to hop from traditional up-stroking to melodic riff-driven rock in seconds. Put a talented horn line behind him and an excellent rhythm section and you have a formidable force. I like to examine ska from a jazz perspective. Although third wave ska may not have very noticeable jazz influences, early ska sounds can be traced to traditional latin jazz...

Sound: Reel Big Fish, in my opinion, are a sorely under-rated group of genuinely talented musicians, who manage to sucessfully fuse together a wide genre of music, and make songs which are catchy to listen to, and yet still sound unique. The frontman/main guitarist Aaron writes catchy hooks, and unlike most guitar players in his genre, can pull off a few tasty lead guitar licks...

In terms of live albums, this is one of the best I've heard in a long while. Emerging from the ska resurgence of the mid-90's, Reel Big Fish proves to be an eminently entertaining band. What makes this album particularly appealing is that it takes them out of the studio, where their music is processed and re-processed until the joy becomes purely manufactured, and puts them in a live setting where everything is raw, right down to the language...

Reel Big Fish, one of the most prominent bands of the so-called ska movement, was formed in Huntington Beach, California back in the early 1990's. Originally three members, they eventually grew to six. In '95, they released Everything Sucks. Their first major-label album was in 1996, with Turn the Radio Off. Their last album, released in 2002, is probably their most critically acclaimed, but since then the ska genre has faltered...

I hereby rescind my statement that the high-octane goof-ska-'n-harmony formula of Reel Big Fish could never fail. RBF were always one of the better ska-punk bands, delighting in the opportunity to poke fun at themselves and whole musical genres in songs about amusingly dumb things that stuck in your brain for weeks...
