Simple Plan Reviews

Sound: This album, like 'Still Not Getting Any...' has a different tune, beat and sound for each song. From the fast rock of ' I'd do anything ' to the slow but just as good ' Perfect', Simple Plan has produced a great album. Great job they have done. // 8 Lyrics and Singing: The lyrics of the album, like their second album, Still Not Getting Any..., is mostly describing the lives of some kids, especially teenagers. Take for example, the song 'Perfect'...

Sound: Simple Plan came out of the gates in 2002 as a straight pop-punk band, and has spread into other styles in their 3 releases since then, including alternative, hip-hop, pop, and even emo-esque elements at times. "Get Your Heart On!" features the same catchy guitar-driven sound meshed with a more pop-styled aesthetic, but shows clear signs of growth its songwriting. Simple Plan has clearly gotten more skilled and more comfortable in what they bring to the table, and it shows in "GYHO...

Sound: I read all the other people's reviews on this album and most of them are very funny but also true. Being a fan of SP myself I must admit that they are not the type of band for every1 and usually get a kicking from non-fan holders. But I find it plausable. The sound itself is very similar to other new age punk rock bands arised like Blink and Good Charlotte, and they would fit in. I enjoyed the album...

alt="" width="284" height="266" />It is hard to believe that the young pop punk band from Montreal has now entered their second decade as Simple Plan. Their last album (self-titled) threw their fans for a loop with its uneven batch of songs mixing their standard sound with some techno and other experimental soundscapes. However, their fourth album Get Your Heart On! marks a strong return to form that should reignite the fanbase that fell in love with them from the get go...

Summary: Shut up shut up shut up! At one point in time (admit it), you liked Simple Plan. You sang along to 'Welcome to My Life', feeling it tug at your heartstrings knowing that nobody would ever get you. Then when you walked in on your best friend kissing your girlfriend, you ran away sobbing, slammed the bedroom door, and blasted 'Thank You', a cathartic and well thought out anthem of betrayal...

Guilty pleasure confessional time: I love Simple Plan and always have. For all of the punk shows I have been to, my heart can't give up this band who broke onto the Canadian pop punk music scene, when it was ok to play pop punk. No one expected them to stay teenagers forever while the rest of us grew up. By now, it's what we expect, so it should be no surprise when you learn that Simple Plan are still singing about high school crushes, fitting in and dealing with your parents...

Simple Plan broke the mould of the typical pop band three years ago when they released their third record. The usual life span of a boy band in their genre usually follows the trajectory of: 1. Release struggling debut album which takes a year to catch on but blows up Platinum-style when it does. 2. Offer successful sophomore complete with charting singles, Platinum status and a now solid fanbase. 3...

Summary: The plan gets plainer and simpler: Wrong-era Weezer worship. Poor Simple Plan... They sure have received a lot of crap over their decade-long existence. Some of it has been undeserving, while on other occasions they have made themselves far too easy a target...

Track 7 (Freaking Me Out) off Simple Plan's fourth LP, two minutes in: a peculiar middle eight of screamo catharsis. Phew! Frustratingly enough, this ends up being the most thrilling moment on Get Your Heart On, which actually sounds like the band lazily revisited their double-platinum debut No Pads, No Helmets, Just Balls with today's top 40 in mind (the reggae-ish Summer Affair, reminiscent of Plain White T's Melody of Love). Of course, it's all well-crafted and pop-pop-pop...
