Man I hate having to figure out if I like something or not. I hate it even more when it's an artist I really like. Wow I pretty much just played my hand on this one didn't I? There it is, it's out there, review over...just kidding the show must go on. That's how I feel on this one though, is it good? Kind of. Is it bad? I wouldn't say that but it certainly has its moments of genuine flatness...

Release Date: June 17, 2014 There's certain bands that you just can't shake off. Bands who create songs that, no matter what mood you're in, no matter what's happened in your day, you can listen to and be transferred to a place far away from where you stand. The Front Bottoms are one of those bands...

After the success of their last album, 2013's Talon of the Hawk, The Front Bottoms are back with a new EP titled Rose. Prior to the hype received since signing to Bar/None Records, they independently crafted two full-lengths and a few EPs that were never widely circulated. Rose is a six-song EP that revives some of these old fan favorites which newer fans might have never known about...

Still riding uncontrollably high off the potent fumes of their stellar 2013 album, Talon Of The Hawk, New Jersey's the Front Bottoms are back with a stopgap EP of fan favorites from their rambunctious live sets. The first in a series of EPs named after the band members' grandmothers (this one coined after drummer Mathew Uychich's grandma, Rose), these five tracks are more of the quartet's patented, melodic, punky college rock...

This review is a contrasting review to this review
The first in a series of EPs named after the band members' grandmothers (um, ok?), The Front Bottoms new EP, Rose, consists of 6 tracks of older songs from the band that apparently are often requested by fans at shows, but never made it onto the band's previous albums...

The Front Bottoms are predicated on one thing, and that is the charisma of their vocalist, Brian Sella. This has worked in the past, as bands like Say Anything have risen above their seemingly unoriginal musical trappings because of the sincerity and bite of Max Bemis, however it hangs a lot on the shoulders of one member. Brian Sella seems to be up to the challenge, writing clever lyrics and possessing a unique voice...

Release Date: May 21, 2013 "This is not the way I plan on living for the rest of my life But for right now, it gets me by, it gets me by." I'm feeling kind of nervous about reviewing the new album from The Front Bottoms. It's hard for me to put down in words my feelings about Talon Of The Hawk without seeming a little forced or unnatural. I find it difficult to describe this record without sounding like a 12 year old who has just discovered 'alternative music' or a teenager discovering beer...

My best friends and I roadtripped down to Florida from South Carolina for a little vacation and to enjoy a couple of shows, the first show being the Front Bottoms and Weatherbox in Jacksonville. After spending four and a half hours driving through Tropical Storm Andrea we arrived at the venue, which was located in what used to be a strip mall. The venue was pretty large and as the show got closer to starting the room quickly began to fill up...

A decidedly bigger sounding record, Talon of the Hawk, The Front's Bottoms' follow-up to their self-titled, strikes one of two emotions out of those in my social network. In the most basic camps, I've encountered those that are "into it" - the youthfulness resonates in a way that's both comical and forceful, and those that "don't not like it" - not turned off, but missing the simpler witticisms of the first record. I get both opinions, but I fall more along the former. Give it a few listens...
