Sound: When I first heard this band I wasn't that keen, my missus made me listen to them but I went out and got the album cause I wanted a dose of metal and after a couple of listens I was hooked. Deathcore is very hit and miss but these guys do it perfectly and uniquely. The guitar sound is very chuggy but not overpowering and the breakdowns everyone loves to hate actually fit in the songs and aren't just there for filler...

Weighing into the deathcore fray, San Antonio, Texas' Upon A Burning Body are a cut above the soundalike bands glutting up the genre. This isn't to say they're a unique entity--they're definitely not, and there are too many echoes of Whitechapel and Suicide Silence to have the band be judged on their merits alone...

Sound: Upon A Burning Body are Texas' own contribution to the Sumerian Records line-up, and one of the better ones at that. While labeled as basically Deathcore, they bring a lot more to the table than the average band in the genre. Most everyone says their favorite Deathcore band is "unique", but UABB prove it with a debut album that's as gritty as it is stunning. Their sound carries all the heat of a Texas summer, with bouncy riffs and insane drumming aplenty...
