Sound: "Devil's Juice" introduces us to a new era of the 80's Hard Rock band, Warrant. The original lead singer, Jani Lane, left the band before this album started recording, and so the group pulled a rabbit out of their habit and landed one of my favorite, most under-rated singers of all time: Jaime St. James, the original lead singer for Black 'N Blue...

Sound: This album, as is the way with all Best Of albums, contains a collection of some of the bands greatest and most famous songs. It ranges from the hard and heavy ("Mr. Rainmaker") to the awesome and Cheesy ("Cherry Pie") to the beautiful and erm... Ballady ("Heaven"). It is not a definitive sample of warrant (would that be possible? I somehow doubt it) but a very good portrayal of the band none the less. // 10 Lyrics and Singing: The vocals are most excellent...

"...the delivery of tracks like 'Sex Ain't Love' and 'Snake' is so much better than anything from the Jani Lane era that you feel like you're listening to a different band." As one of my friends recently reminded me, wearing a Warrant t-shirt in school back in the 80's was enough to get a kid beat up. But fast forward to 2010 and there's almost nothing glam or cheesy about Warrant...

Do you remember my review of Warrant's comeback album "Born Again" (MTM Music, 2006)? It featured the classic line-up of the band minus Jani Lane, whose place behind the mike was taken by Jaime St. James (Black 'N Blue). I called it a fine return to the style of the band's first two albums, albeit with a more contemporary sound. We're now five years further down the time line and St. James is no longer part of the band...

Many of the great Eighties bands, hair, glam or otherwise, have been resurrected for a second wind, some have kept busy from their inception, and many seem to be found on Italy's Frontiers Records. Of the latter is Hollywood hard rockers Warrant, now releasing their ninth studio album Rockaholic. The vocalist of their glory years, Jani Lane has come and gone once more. Briefly replaced by Black 'N Blue singer Jaime St. James, the slot is now filled by ex-Lynch Mob singer Robert Mason...

After seeing Warrant perform last year all I could think of was..man they have to record an album with Robert Mason. He truly carried the set that night performing all the classic hits hitting notes I never knew existed from the old catalog. The question would be can this line-up WRITE an album of new material that could live up to the past? Answer: Not only do they live up to it..they just may have surpassed it...

Sound: This is a "classic" hair metal album, from a great hair metal band, Warrant. Although the title track is easily the best song on the album, most of the rest are still decent songs, and almost all the songs are very different from each other. There are great guitar riffs, catchy lyrics on this album, and very little filler. This is easily Warrant's best album, and if you enjoy this you might also like Ratt, Twisted Sister, and Quiet Riot...

In view of Mötley Crüe's and Ozzy Osbourne's ongoing mega-stardom, it's hard to imagine that success in heavy metal is the result of anything other than blind luck. Still, you can understand Columbia having given Warrant a big push. The lead singer is blond and self-infatuated, and he can sound exactly like any Hit Parader cover boy of the past half-decade. The drummer and bass player are major, major dreamboats, and the guitarists can play real fast. The band members make no bones about their....
