Bette Midler Goes on Tour After a Decade and Fans are Snapping Up the Tickets!

She has made a major announcement that has fans across the US and the UK holding their collective breaths in anticipation: She is going on tour and returning to the stage after ten long years away from it. The tour, tiled “It’s the Girls!” after her latest album release, will kick off on May 8 at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Hollywood, Florida. Although Midler hasn’t toured in a decade, she did take to the stage from 2008 to 2010 at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas. “I haven’t really toured for a number of years,” the 68 year old star was quoted as saying. “It will be fun to get back on the bus.”

Midler’s Career

Bette Midler began her career in a few Off-Off-Broadway plays, and then appeared in Fiddler on the Roof and Salvation on Broadway in the 60s. She built a following in the late 60s by singing in the Continental Baths. In fact, the late Janis Joplin took notice of her, and confided in one of her friends that she believed Midler would prove to be competition for her.  Since then, she has released a total of 13 studio albums, and is well known for hits like “Wind Beneath My Wings,” “Do You Wanna Dance?” “From a Distance,” and Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy.” She also starred in her first motion picture in The Rose, which some say is a story about Joplin’s life. After that, she made her movie screen appearance in “For the Boys,” “Gypsy,” “Beaches,” “Outrageous,” “Down and Out in Beverly Hills,” “The Stepford Wives,” and “The First Wives Club.”

Midler is one of the few stars who can claim success in all areas of show business. She earned four Grammy Awards, two Academy Award nominations, three Emmy Awards, one Tony Award, three Golden Globe Awards, and nine American Comedy Awards. And her music has made her one of the world’s favorites, proved by the fact that she has sold over 30 million albums worldwide.
