Seacrest is the long-time host of American Idol, the show that gave Underwood her first big boost into show business. The 32-year-old singer parlayed her 4th-season American Idol win into one of the hottest country music careers in recent history. She hit the ground running after her win and hasn’t slowed down since. As Underwood prepares to bring down the curtain on 2015 and head into 2016 (with a national tour and an international tour waiting in the wings), here’s a look back at the country music superstar’s awards and 2015 highlights.

Isaiah Thomas Fisher

Underwood started off her year with a new role – mother. In February, the singer gave birth to Isaiah Thomas Fisher, her son with husband Mike Fisher. Over the course of the year, magazine covers and websites have featured photos of Underwood getting sloppy kisses from her son, Underwood exercising with her baby and Underwood doing all the things new moms do.

Most Awarded Female Country Singer in History

In the meantime, though, she was doing things outside the capability of most other new mothers – or just about anyone else. Her 2015 awards include Billboard’s Best Christian Song, a Grammy nomination for Best Solo Country Performance for “Little Toy Guns” (following a win for last year’s “Something in the Water,”) and not one, not two but three CMT Country Music Awards – one for Best Video of the Year, one for Best Female Video of the Year and one for Best Collaborative Video of the Year. The three CMT awards made Underwood the most awarded country singer in the history of the show.

Hosting and More

Underwood hosted the 2015 CMA show with fellow country superstar Blake Shelton, but, as Rolling Stone noted, she didn’t come just to host. The singer was nominated for awards in two categories – and while she didn’t win either award, she did score the most memorable stage performance of the star-studded evening when she belted out the single, “Smoke Break,” off her newest studio album, “Storyteller.” The song sent ripples through the entire country music world, propelling it back up to number one on the Billboard Country charts – and making it the singer’s 21st number one single in the past 10 years.

It also greased the skids for Storyteller’s debut, moving it from number two in presales to the number one slot on its release, making the album Underwood’s 6th consecutive number one release on the Billboard charts. Underwood is the only artist to ever have accomplished that feat. The album officially went gold on December 4, 2015, just six weeks after its October 23rd release.

Underwood isn’t resting on her laurels. She’ll end the year with the New Year’s Eve show, and then head out on the road for her Storyteller Tour on January 30th.
