Celine’s Departure From the Stage

Celine Dion made an announcement last August that she was cancelling all of her scheduled performances at Cesar’s Palace in Las Vegas to stay home and take care of her husband, who was struggling with a cancerous tumor in his cancer. And to make matters worse for the singer, she was dealing with her own illness that caused major inflammation in her throat muscles, which can be devastating for a singer. At the time of her announcement, she made it clear that she didn’t know when, or even if, she would return. “I want to devote every ounce of my strength and energy to my husband’s healing,” she said. “And to do so, it’s important for me to dedicate this time to him and our children. I also want to apologize to all my fans everywhere, for inconveniencing them, and I thank them so much for their love and support.”  Since then, there has been all kinds of speculation about whether or not the well loved singer would ever return to performing on stage.

Celine’s Happy Ending

Most of Celine’s songs end on a happy note, and luckily, this real life drama had the same outcome. It is said that her husband has recovered from the throat cancer and is now doing much better. And whatever was causing Celine’s throat to become inflamed has cleared up as well. With all of this good news, Celine Dion has recently made the announcement that she is going back to Las Vegas and will begin to perform again at Cesar’s Palace.

Let’s Live!

In a recent interview, Celine Dion talked about how she herself took care of her husband while he was recovering, including feeding him through a feeding tube. It’s ironic that a woman who sings so passionaltely about love is living a real life romance with her husband. In fact, it was him who persuaded her to return to the stage. As Celien so elegantly put it, “We’re living. Let’s live!”

There Will be Some Changes on Stage

As if enough new things weren’t happening in Celine Dion’s life, there was another recent announcement about the makeup of her staff. Celine and her new manager, Aldo Giampaolo, announced that four members of her band, Claude “Mego” Lemay, the musical conductor who has been with her for twenty-eight years, along with Yves Frulla, Andre Coutu, and Jean-Seb Carree will not continue with the show after their contracts have expired. “Celine and Rene are thankful for their talent and love over the last years and wish them much success in their future projects,” said Aldo about the departing band members. “It was a very difficult decision, but judged necessary in order to breathe new life into the spectacular.”
