Chicago and REO Speedwagon on Tour – Seventies Rock Stronger than Ever

They were the mainstay of 1970s Lite Rock radio, and this summer, the summer that appears to the Summer of Seventies Redux, they’ve paired up to tour together. It’s a dream pair-up for those who walked the line between punk and pop/rock, a line populated by the two bands sharing the headline spot on the Chicago-REO Speedwagon tour this summer. Grab this once-in-a-lifetime chance to see Chicago and REO Speedwagon onstage together. Tickets are scarce for this incredible show, but we’ve got them. All Your Favorite Songs

Ever go to a show expecting to hear your favorite songs but the band never plays them? That’s not about to happen here. REO singer Kevin Cronin explained to Access Atlanta that he’s always thought there’s nothing worse than going to a show and for some reason, the band leaves out their biggest songs. He figures that’s what fans come to hear, and that’s what the band will give them. And since Chicago’s set list at various venues has included such heavy hitters as 25 or 6 to 4, If You Leave Me Now, and Hard to Say I’m Sorry, it’s obvious that they subscribe to the same philosophy.

And a Combo Sweetener to Wrap It Up

But the guys in both bands don’t stop with re-hashing old classics. Each band plays a full 70-minute set alone on the stage, but the real treat is the finale, when the Speedwagon and Chicago take the stage together and collaborate on songs from each of their catalogs. The set list for Chicago Speedwagon may vary, but so far the 30-minute joint encore has included the bands playing together on REO’s Riding The Storm Out, Keep On Loving You and Roll With The Changes and CHICAGO’s Free, Does Anybody Really Know What Time It Is and 25 or 6 to 4 in the July 31 tour opening.
