Think Fenway Park is Just for the Red Sox? Think Again—We’ve Just Added it to Our Venue Series

images2FL55WKFIf you’re like most people, you associated Fenway Park with the Boston Red Sox, and nothing else. But you may be surprised to learn that Fenway Park is also a great venue for music concerts. In fact, we think it’s so great, that we have decided to add it to our featured venue list. If you haven’t been keeping up, we maintain a list of famous concert venues that are destinations in and of themselves, regardless of the musical acts booked there. The list is fairly new, but so far, our featured venues list includes the Red Rocks Amphitheatre and the Hollywood Bowl. That puts the Boston ballpark in stellar company.

Fenway Park is Not Just for Baseball

Ask any Boston Red Sox fan what their favorite part of a ballgame is, and you’ll likely hear them go on about the wonders of the ball park. While Fenway Park is best known as the home of the Boston Red Sox, the historic ballpark also puts on about five music concerts each summer. Fans from all over the country anticipate these concerts because they’re held in such a historic place, and they are few and far between. The concerts that Fenway Park has put on in the past include Bruce Springsteen, Billy Joel, Jason Aldean and Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers. And this year the park magic will continue as lineup includes repeat performances by Billy Joel, Zac Brown Band and the Foo Fighters.

Fenway Park’s Special Attributes

Set in historic Boston, Massachusetts, Fenway Park seats just under 40,000 people and is one of the oldest ballparks in the entire nation. And even though Fenway Park is older than some of the newer parks, it has definitely kept pace with the times. For instance, the sound system and acoustics are spectacular, and the field now boasts the best WiFi and digital infrastructure of any stadium venue in the country. And the fans love the new wireless capabilities because it means that they can post pictures and updates of all the concert fun.

Fenway Park is Just the Beginning

While Billy Joel concert tickets and Zac Brown Band tickets may be the main attraction at Fenway’s summer concert series, they’ll be sharing the stage with the park’s infamous Green Monster. The left field wall is the second-highest and most famous homerun spoiler in the MLB, and a perennial tourist attraction. And in addition to seeing the Green Monster up close and personal, fans who make the trip to Boston for a Fenway Park concert will also find a lot of other attractions to keep them busy before the concert and after. For instance, Fenway is located in the Back Bay, just a few short subway stops away from downtown Boston and Boston Common. It’s there that families will be able to hike the historic Freedom Trail, drop by the Boston Museum of Science or go for a paddle in the paddle boats on the Common. If your trip involves only adults, you can visit the original Cheers bar, or have a meal at one of Boston’s many fine restaurants.
