Zola Jesus Fans Rejoice – Breakout ElectroPop Artist to Play Music Festival in Cincinatti and Delaware

zolajesus1Zola Jesus fans are used to a little hardship. When the up-and-coming young Russian-American singer was scheduled to play at the Smithsonian in 2013, fans with hard-to-get Zola Jesus concert tickets had their plans stymied by – of all things – the first U.S. government shutdown in 17 years. Jesus had been scheduled to play at the Hirshorn’s After Hours Bash, a stellar DC event held at the Smithsonian’s Hirshhon Museum and Sculpture Garden. The government shutdown also meant no Smithsonian and no Zola Jesus – at least in 2013.

 The Show Must Go On

In a bow to Zola Jesus fans, though, the Hirshhon brought the iconic electropop singer in to help celebrate their 40th Anniversary kickoff party a year later in 2014. Museum gigs are nothing new to Zola Jesus, born Nika Roza Danilova in Wisconsin. She’s also played at the Guggenheim Museum of Modern Art in NYC, and told Pitchfork.tv that she loves performing in museums because they’re such inspiring places. The smoky-voiced singer has captivated audiences around the country with her booming vocals and wide range of musical styles she encompasses.

The young Nika grew up in the wilderness of Wisconsin, and that influence remains with her. Her childhood memories read like a mindscape out of some hellish fantasy novel – she recalls that her hunter father once hung a deer head from a tree, hoping that the animals would pick the meat clean and leave the skull. “So you could really walk around in the woods and bump into a hanging deer head,” she told an interviewer once.

Zola Does Opera

The spooky, surreal, goth influence is clear in Jesus’ music, but so is another musical influence – opera. By the age of seven, she was obsessed with opera, and begged her parents to get her lessons in operatic singing. The drama of opera shines through in her powerful voice, and in the shows she stages for fans lucky enough to score Zola Jesus tickets.

Tickets are Hard to Come by. Seriously.

That will be no mean feat this year. The singer, who released her first full-length album, The Spoils, on her own in 2009, will be touring Europe for most of the year. U.S. fans will have a chance to enjoy the deliciously dark singer’s work at the Midpoint Music Festival on September 25,or at the Firefly Music Festival at the Woodlands of Dover International Speedway on June 16.

But it’s important to realize that fans of Jesus are diehard, and there aren’t many tickets left. In fact, if you want to see the curiously popular singer, you’d do well to order your tickets just as soon as you finish reading this article.

Yes, they are that much in demand.

And at ConcertBank, we currently have a very few available tickets to see Zoe Jesus at both available concert dates. In fact, there are less than 20 tickets left for the Midpoint Music Festival, and as of this writing, only 79 left for the Firefly Music Festival.
