Don't Panic All Time Low October 9, 2012 Hopeless Records Never forget where you've come from, what you've done, and never, whatever happens in the world, let anything hold you back. That's what the fifth studio album, Don't Panic by the pop-punk band All Time Low screams. With amazing vocals from Alex Gaskarth, heart-pumping beats by drummer Rian Dawson, chords shredded from the guitar of Jack Barakat, and a bass line that keeps you delving deeper provided by Zack Merrick, how could...

Overlooking the fact that (let's face it, at least...) 50% of All Time Low's fanbase is not yet of age to vote, arguably their 5th studio album "Don't Panic" has been more highly anticipated than the upcoming Presidential election. With what seemed like an age following up the efforts of what, in reality, was only last year's "Dirty Work", the resounding verdict is a little less drawn out: the wait was definitely worth it...

After splitting with Interscope and returning to the haven of their original label, Hopeless, one might expect All Time Low to turn their back on the glossy, radio-ready take on emo-pop they had exhibited on previous album Dirty Work. They really didn't, though, and Don't Panic is another hot and stadium-ready album that should connect with those who like their emo-pop very, very heavy on the pop...

Hopeless isn't just the label; it's also a description for the record. As for the album title, I'd have panicked had the album been decent because that would have been fucking unexpected. There's always "hype" with All Time Low and surely everyone, well almost, knows their name and their sound, and chances are, they won't have good stuff to say. Punknews' community never spares the rod on this band and this album is another reason why. It's that woeful...

Release Date: October 9th, 2012 When I say I was never the biggest fan of Maryland four-piece All Time Low, it seems as though I'm in the minority. I haven't met many people who don't really like this band, but for some reason, I could never get into them at all. Maybe it's the fact they're more pop than punk, or it's their lyrics have always been way too cheesy for my tastes. Regardless, people have been praising fourth record Don't Panic...

Photo: With the big push of digital advancement on music in the noughties, pop punk has been one of the sub genres to really use its strengths to its advantage. Bands like Paramore, Four Year Strong (and maybe the band that Charlie Simpson used to be in) showcase pop punk is thriving with talented acts. One key band behind this driving force All Time Low is eager to keep the ball running with their latest creation Don't Panic...

All Time Low's new album is a perfect example of the saying 'if it ain't broke, don't fix it'. Since their break-out sophomore album So Wrong It's Right, they've managed to stick to their core pop-punk sound while at the same time keeping things fresh and, well, fun. Don't Panic kicks off well, with "The Reckless And The Brave", a high energy, anthemic-sounding pop-punk track with hints of dance-y, electronic music and a chorus replete with ringing guitars and extremely catchy lyrics...

Much has been made about All Time Low's short time spent on a major label. Were there too many cooks in the kitchen? Absolutely. Did the resulting album, Dirty Work, lack the spark that ATL usually bring to the table? Well, yes and no. It's easy to focus on Dirty Work's negatives (as they were numerous), but the album also delivered some of the band's best work to date--"Guts," "Under A Paper Moon" and "Heroes" are all essential ATL...
