In 1987, the Bee Gees, who hadn't recorded an album in six years, made a triumphant comeback with E*S*P, their debut long-player for Warner Bros. It's now reissued as part of a 5CD box set that includes two further Warners studio albums, One and

This often ignored 1969 double vinyl album from the brothers Gibb was as lush, plush and sumptuous as its eye catching faux-red velvet cover. Now restored to its original packaging for a 40th anniversary deluxe/expanded edition CD, the Bee Gees' fourth release remains an intermittently impressive and sprawling, though somewhat affected set...

I really struggled to get through this DVD â?" not because I hate the Bee Gees (which I donâ??t), but just for the reason that itâ??s awfully boring and mind-numbing. Essentially, In Our Own Time is a film about the trioâ??s illustrious career and features several cuts from interviews, news, TV segments and their hits, such as â??Staying Aliveâ??, â??How Deep Is Your Love?â?? and â??Night Feverâ??...

Recorded in Vegas back in 1997, at the time this was the Gibb brothers' first live concert in a decade, and featured hits from every era of their Hall of Fame career. So, as to be expected, this 31-track DVD is one big hit after another, from How Can You Mend a Broken Heart to Night Fever to Tragedy (and still many of their classic Top 40 hits are missing!)...

Last list we reviewed a slightly cheaper version (as opposed to the double disc deluxe edition we'd previously made a Record Of The Week) of one of the most amazing sixties pop records ever, the self titled debut from the Bee Gees, gorgeously melancholy,Êsweet, shimmery, sun dappled, minor key pop confections from the band that would somehow go on to be the kings of disco...

Previously reissued as a super fancy and pricey expanded double cd, now available as a single disc at a nice price, and even without all the extra tracks and multiple mixes, this still remains an incredible and classic sixties pop record (heck we made the deluxe reissue a Record Of The Week!) that you oughta own... What comes to mind when you think of The Bee Gees? Saturday Night Fever? Disco? White suits? 30 years of cheesy disco dancing to "Stayin' Alive"...

Gosh, people were hostile toward disco. Some still are. While I've never been especially fond of it, I've also never especially disliked it and I've never gone out of my way to disparage the entire genre based on some ridiculous set of rock purist principles. For me, the further we get away from disco the better that music starts to sound...

Re-releasing a greatest hits album from 1979 would seem to be a great disservice to fans of a pop band, but in the case of this album, it captures perfectly the peak of the Bee Gees' popularity during the disco era. Even as a double album released in 1979, Greatest focused entirely on the previous four years of the band's career and ignored what had come before...

You may not like these Aussie-born Brits, but they've had 18 number one hits - all included here - eight from their 1960s phase when they were compared to The Beatles; another eight from their '70s phase when they ruled disco with their blue-eyed soul; and two more (including the hook-laden You Win Again) from their second career comeback in the late '80s. There are so many great songs not included here, it's amazing to realize The Bee Gees only had 18 number ones.
