It's been ten years since Elliott Brood released a debut EP, , and five years since they graced the cover of . The Toronto-based trio have since worked their way to the top of this country's roots music scene, as exemplified by their 2013 Juno Award for Roots & Traditional Album of the Year for the superb . Don't let that "traditional" tag fool you, though...

This Toronto-based band's fifth album moves away from the historical subjects they favored on earlier albums for their most personal and most polished release to date of anthemic folk-rock, combining crunchy electric guitars and a variety of more rootsy instrumentation with catchy song hooks and epic sing-along choruses. 10/10/2014 -

This Toronto-based band's third album features a slightly more polished sound and tighter musicianship to propel their latest impressive batch of hook-filled folk-rock songs combining buzzing electric guitars, various acoustic instruments, grainy lead vocals and anthemic, sing-a-long choruses.

When Toronto, ON trio Elliott Brood burst onto the scene in 2004, they grabbed ears with a strikingly sparse yet intense sound. On Days Into Years, it is the quality of the songwriting that takes centre stage. The group's sound has broadened and mellowed on their third full-length album, but all in the service of melodically and lyrically rich material. They've reunited with John Critchley (Dan Mangan, 13 Engines) and he contributes characteristically clean but robust production...

The new textures suit singer Mark Sasso's gravelly voice and Days Into Years' historical themes, inspired in part by a visit to a World War I cemetery in France...

Elliott Brood's sophomore release, Ambassador, is the perfect accompaniment for the bone chilling, lonely nights of mid-winter. Brood, a trio of musicians from Canada - none of which lends his moniker to the band - originally released this disc in 2005. Nearly two years later Ambassador is about to receive a second go-around with a re-release in the U.S. The group's dark, brooding Americana is sure receive a warm welcome, despite the frosty feel of the album...

Six Shooter Records' tagline reads "Life is too short to listen to shitty music." It's a dangerous statement to make when an album you're releasing occasionally treads a few yards over that line. To make believable, hard-bitten alt.country, a certain level of gravitas has to be reached and consistently maintained. Elliott Brood seem to be unable to do this...
