Sound: Victory Songs is the third full length album by the Finnish folk metal band Ensiferum. Some like to call them "viking metal," but I personally think that's a slightly crude representation of the group, seeing as Finns have no connection to vikings whatsoever. However, the term "battle metal" would certainly apply to the group, especially to this album. Many of the songs in this album focus on war and battle, as well as some other fantasy themes...

Sound: Ensiferum, for anyone who didn't know, play a brand of Folk/power metal with extreme vocals. This is their self titled album and the best record they have ever done. Not a lot of people know the history of the band, so I'll do a short recap. They've released three albums (s/t, Iron and Victory songs) and they are responsible for making this reviewer do little jigs everytime he does housework. It's probably my favourite CD along with Gamma ray's 'Somewhere out in space'...

Sound: Petri's first album, at least mini one, with Ensiferum, and it couldn't be any better! It also has folk stylish melodys, and so does the second song: Warrior's Quest. Again another song with not so fast tempo, but great melodies. You can't get as perfect folk song as the third song is; Kalevala Melody...

Sound: After hearing and seeing the From Afar video release, I was skeptical if Ensiferum would come back as strong as they were from the last album, Victory Songs. Fact of the matter is they are back, with more instrumentally focused sounding songs that really bring out the true tastes of the celtic style music...

Summary: Power metal with harsh vocals is still power metal. And this isn't particularly good power metal either. 5 of 5 thought this review was well written I hate writing intros. Sometimes you write an intro and can't think of anything interesting to write. In some cases, when you are bored like that, you end up writing lots of nonsense to pad whatever you're doing. In my case that is a review. In Ensiferum's case, it's an acoustic intro. Did I mention I hate bands that use intro songs...
