Live albums are often difficult to get right. Some bands record them on the night, which puts extra pressure on them to be as flawless as it's possible to be in a live setting. Some would argue that live performances are all about the smaller things, like the energy and improvisation that can come from a band completely in the moment...

Photo: Fink is an indie folk singer songwriter from Brighton who is signed to the independent Ninja Tune label, along with other artists like Roots Manuva and Wiley. With four albums under his belt and 20,000 tickets sold across the breadth of 14 countries in Europe - Fink has decided to release a live album: 'Wheels Turn Beneath My Feet'

Often the best things are said to be "more than the sum of their parts", but sometimes the numbers don't appear to add up at all. That a DJ and producer for London-based independent electro label Ninja Tune should have a subsequent career as the core of an acoustic trio, for example, seems quite a stretch. That such a man should have had collaborations with the likes of American R&B star John Legend and British rapper Professor Green sounds more improbable still...

Release Date: July 19, 2011 Fin "Fink" Greenall was once a DJ for the dance label Ninja Tune. In 2006, he made a drastic switch to acoustic, folk music. Since then he has fused elements of jazz, blues, soul, electronica, and folk making him one of the most compelling folk musicians in the scene today. In Perfect Darkness, Greenall keeps the same recipe as his previous albums...

Find It At: Insound The Brighton, U.K.-based singer/songwriter Fink is the very definition of his very specific musical genre: Jack Johnson for clubbers. On his fifth full-length, Perfect Darkness, Fink's soulful chords compete with the sinewy tones of his finger-picked acoustic guitar to see which can ring more hollow. In the process, the two start to sound exactly the same. This style was at its most impactful when Fink initially came out with it (and José González bit it)...

Last year, Coldcut's Ninja Tune celebrated 20 years at the forefront of cutting-edge electronic subversion, so it comes as something of a shock to encounter a Ninja Tune album built on traditional voice and guitar...

English singer/songwriter Fin Greenall does a good job of defying expectations. Taking the possibly self-deprecating nom-de-plume of Fink is one such example. Another is by releasing his records through acclaimed electronic music label Ninja Tune, as his music owes more to the expansive folk-rock sounds of Nick Drake and John Martyn than label stalwarts such as Coldcut or Mr. Scruff...

While you might want to christen Fink the acoustic James Blake after one listen of Perfect Darkness, it should really be the other way around. Perfect Darkness is the singer-songwriter's fifth full length effort and has developed a strong cult following over the years, but with the emergence of the likes of Blake into the mainstream, this album should provide Fink with the exposure he deserves...

'Perfect Darkness' is the fourth studio album from Fin Greenall's band, Fink, providing the next logical step of their journey to date with their most plaintive and direct collection of songs so far. The conversion from acoustic artist to electronic experimenter is, much like the traffic across the Berlin wall was, pretty much one way. Just take a look at two of the biggest bands in the world today, Radiohead and Coldplay...
