Gin Blossoms Concert Tickets

Gin Blossoms are an alternative rock band formed in 1987, in Tempe, Arizona, United States. The band originally consisted of Robin Wilson (vocals, guitar), Jesse Valenzuela (guitar, vocals), Doug Hopkins (guitar), Bill Leen (bass) and Phillip Rhodes (drums). Shortly after finishing their debut record "New Miserable Experience", the band fired Hopkins (who was also the band's principal songwriter and penned their hits "Found Out About You" and "Hey Jealousy") and replaced him with Scott Johnston. Gin Blossoms Reviews

Does the problematic "alternative rock" term apply to Gin Blossoms? There are those who would say "yes", and everyone's favorite communal web-cyclopedia would seem to agree. While the phrase implies sending shaggy DJs into spasms with DIY ethos and a remote punk lineage, singer Robin Wilson and company were only ever "college rock" in the sense of sounding right at home at Big Ten watering holes...

After a 10-year recording drought, Arizona's Gin Blossoms emerge victorious with a collection of harmony-driven, willowy, jangle-rock songs. For the 12-song "Major Lodge Victory," the Gin Blossoms stick with the pop-rock formula that allowed them to score hits like "Hey Jealousy" and "Found Out About You" in the 1990s. The new album chock full of potential hits (with nary a poor song), all peppered with strong melodic riffs and hooks...

Summary: They aren't completely back yet, but something about the Gin Blossoms has changed...and it is for the best indeed. 4 of 4 thought this review was well written It is an unstated truth that the Gin Blossoms' best days are behind them. They peaked with their sophomore album, A New Miserable Experience, and its follow-up Congratulations I'm Sorry...

When I was in the 10th grade and making out with Emily Mann, Gin Blossoms was on the radio. During those moments when "Until I Fall Away" came glistening through the speakers and lead singer Robin Wilson's earnest laments floated in the air, "college rock", as it was then known, arrived...

When is alternative rock not especially alternative? When theband in question is the Gin Blossoms. With their untucked shirtsand forgot-my-comb haircuts, the Arizona band was marketed asunderground for their sleeper-hit 1992 debut, New Miserable Experience. Yet on that record they found redemption in suchold-school standbys as jangling guitars, power-pop melodies, andabject longing...

After four years of riding the burgeoning Nineties-nostalgia concert circuit, the reunited Gin Blossoms have decided to release a new album, their first since 1996. The single and high point of the LP is "Learning the Hard Way," a catchy middle-of-the-road number in the same vein as "Till I Hear It From You." The rest is subpar Adult Alternative that fails to invoke the spirit of 1994 Top Forty radio.
