Grupo Niche's organic, tradition-rich style of Colombian salsa music is well served on A Golpe de Folcklore, which features a number of standout singles like the title track and "Yo No Tomo Con Hombre."

Barroco and Niche are both evidence of the internationalization of salsa. Both play tight extended conjunto (Niche leans to trombones, Barroco balances bones and trumpets). If either play a cumbia, it must be in their sleep. Both record with a stiffening of salsa Names from New York or Miami (Barroco more so than Niche). Both swing and get hits from the fact against strong competition from the traditional salsa hotspots.
