Release Date: November 15, 2011 Tossing up punk rock's ubiquitous "go!" comes as second nature to NYHC band H2O as rehashing the notion of a "positive mental attitude." Look again, and the two-letter word symbolizes that Toby Morse and his bandmates are quite the death defying bunch...

This is the perfect example of how you get the hook up if you are friends with the right people. The lead vocalist Toby Morse was apparently a Sick Of It All roadie along time ago and I'm sure that someone from the band introduced H2O to Epitaph and things began to happen eventually with enough harassment. Don't get me wrong, there is nothing wrong with knowing people that are directly connected to other people involved in the scene...

H20, created in 1995 by former Sick Of It All roadie Toby Morse, have spent the last six years building up a reputation as one of New York's best melodic hardcore punk bands, creating a fanbase made up of both hardcore and mainstream fans. GO is the band's fourth album, and their first after abandoning Epitaph Records for MCA, home of radio-friendly punk acts like Blink 182 and Fenix TX...

For H2O's first album in seven years, the band feels inclined to let listeners know that they've got Nothing to Prove. The NYHC band kicks off this noteworthy release with a song that's nostalgic for the early days of melodic hardcore's existence, specifically 1995. It was the year when MP3s were just beginning to spring up on the internet, and just after Kurt Cobain's death inadvertently put a period on grunge. It was a time of transition...

H2O was born out of frontman Toby Morses' unquestionable desire to give something back to hardcore music. Having been a roadie for several years with New York hardcore legends Sick Of It All, Toby got his first big chance to perform during one of their shows. "Pete (Koller) wrote a song on the road, I wrote some lyrics, and for a goof I sang 'My Love Is Real' during one of their encores...

The dour, overcast tones of the Pacific Northwest's more-famous exports evidently hold no sway with Seattle's 669; this melodic pop/rock foursome name-checks the light and twee sounds of Belle & Sebastian and Barenaked Ladies as key influences...

Virtually all cultures of the world, regardless of time, have
demonstrated a fascination with the number three. Most often, reverence
for this mystical number was incorporated in religious worship. Triad

Unlike many of their New York hardcore peers, the members of H2O have more IQ points than tattoos. They also have a less nihilistic outlook, exponentially better senses of humor, and a greater collective understanding of melody. On their second album Thicker Than Water, there is no shortage of songs about standing strong, the scene, and other NYHC staples. There's also no shortage of joyous, jackhammer-propelled punk romps with hints of pop thrown in...

Shortly after the release of their first 7", H20 found themselves
recording a demo for a very interested Brett Gurewitz, owner of Epitaph
Records. Mr. Brett apparently thought the band was trying too hard to
imitate his label's "sound" and promptly withdrew his offer to put out
the band's first LP...
