Sound: Returning with all guns firing, Page drives a tight ship delivering the best Helmet album since "Betty". Unrelenting and grinding, the guitars push an overall rawness in this album not heard since Aftertaste. It's great to hear no gross overproduction or over compression, Helmet are always a breath of fresh air when it comes to straight forward recordings...

"It isn't that there's anything particularly terrible about Helmet's 'Monochrome,' but, apropos to the title, there's precious little that stands out, making for a rather bland listening experience." The title of Helmet's 2006 album, "Monochrome," is proof that occasionally, there is such a thing as truth in advertising. Sure, Page Hamilton and Chris Traynor deliver some good-to-great guitar work , but the songs tend to blend together, especially when it comes to Hamilton's vocals...

Though the landscape of rock music has changed drastically since Helmet's founding in 1989, Helmet has never worried about what music is popular. With Seeing Eye Dog, Page Hamilton and company offer their most experimental set yet, but it is still undeniably Helmet. Since their breakthrough in 1992, Helmet has always been too metal for the grunge fans and too grunge for the metal fans...

I got kicked in the balls once, in Grade 2. I thought I'd forgotten about the whole lousy affair, including the no-good bastard who made me piss blood. But no. That feeling came back in 1992, when Helmet gave me Meantime. But the thing is, they made that loathsome pain feel good: Pure, overwhelming aggression that made you not want to curl up in a ball, but go out and find that little prick who wronged you...

Post-hardcore has become such a broad and muddled term, it almost doesn't do Helmet justice to refer to them as one of its pioneers. Still, anyone who remembers their mix of choppy riffs, broken melodies and articulate aggression producing a string of seminal albums during the 90s would find it hard to reject that notion...

Sound: After the more than seven years of misical inactivity since their last full-length album, the New York band Helmet have finally released Size Matters, their fifth album. The band's music has got new traits during this period, which could be the consequence of the full replacement of the Helmet's rhythm section...

Sound: Helmet's rough and heavy sound is perfectly captured on this CD. Despite the fact the recording is poor, Page Hamilton's Drop D Riff's and Jazz inspired solo's are incredible (the solo to "FBLA" and the grinding opening riff to "Rude"). It's fair to point out that Nu Metal bands such as Korn and Deftones were heavily influenced by this band and let's face it, back in 1989, who else was playing this sort of stuff? // 8 Lyrics and Singing: Page Hamilton's lyrics are very angry...
