Howie Day Reviews

Avg. Customer Rating:
5.0 (based on 9 reviews)

Sound: Howie Day is an excellent singer/songwriter and he loves to use lots of different guitar FX in his songs. His most popular songs are 'Ghost' and 'Sorry so sorry'. In this album, however, his music is a little different in terms of style. There is a little bit less acoustic in this record, so that opens the doors for plenty of effects. The sound is quite good, rich but savy at times...

After two critically acclaimed full-length albums as well as an EP CD, Howie Day has a new treat for his fans, the recently released EP, "Extras". Featuring live versions of three of the songs from "Stop All The World Now", as well as a previously unreleased studio track, "Extras" is another reminder of what a truly gifted artist and performer Howie Day is...

Some people were born to write and perform music. Howie Day is one of those people. He has a talent so innate that it goes far beyond anything that can be learned in a music class or achieved through tireless practice and dedication. Day is a lyrical poet whose flawless voice and unforgettable melodies establish him as one of today's best artists...

Howie Day is a young songwriter from Maine who's creating a buzz by performing only with a guitar and some effects pedals. He plays a riff, samples and loops it, and then strums and sings over his instant, virtually live accompaniment...

Following up on his acclaimed debut, twenty-two-year-old singer-songwriter Day shows moments of real talent here, but this disc is thin even for a between-albums EP -- much of Madrigals is acoustic strummers he should have left at the coffeehouse....

Twenty-two-year-old singer-songwriter Howie Day's first album was a bit piecemeal, so for his second he started with a concept, and the concept was "Radiohead is a great band!" On Stop All the World Now, the formerly folky elements of Day's music are layered with oddball effects and a thick, emotive fog of production...

Howie Day seems like a veteran after years of being on the road, but the fact that he's still in his early 20s should bode well for him and a long career. The singer-songwriter's last album Stop All the World Now was not exactly the smash, buzz-like hit that critics hailed like the preceding Australia album, but Day still managed to put out a quality album with some string touches. Now, this new edition features bonus material, including two acoustic versions of album tracks...

SimpleHowie Day's music is simple. The studio versions of many of the songs are easy melodic lines looped over and over, with webby yet sparse production, bare-necessities support instrumentation, and nary a back-up vocal. His lyrics are transparently emotional and plainly decipherable, with straightforward titles and uncomplicated theses. And his voicewell, it is what it is: a steamy, heartfelt tenor, locomoting through his mid-range, occasionally chugging deeper or chugging determinedly ...
