Hundredth Reviews

Avg. Customer Rating:
5.0 (based on 9 reviews)

Hundredth have proven to be one of the better bands of their ilk since breaking out with 2011's Let Go, playing a stripped-down strain of melodic, mid-tempo, metallic hardcore that draws from forebears like Shai Hulud (albeit with far less technicality) and Strongarm (though certainly less heavy). The second of a pair of thematically connected EPs (2013's very solid Revolt was the first), Resist does get bogged down by similarly vague sloganeering: The band don't elaborate much on protest...

Release Date: March 19, 2013 Hundredth's new Revolt EP offically comes out on Tuesday 3/19/13 but if you pre-ordered it (like I did) you have more than likely recieveed it before then. When I first heard the first single that they released a few months back entitled "Ruin", I was absolutely stoked for this EP. "Ruin" has such awesome lyrics (I could quote the whole entire song as an example of how great they are) and has definetely progressed a good amount from their last record, Let Go...

On first exposure, the five tracks of Revolt appear to be solid if unspectacular additions to Hundredth's arsenal. Aggressive, chunky and in your face, they seem very much a continuation of where the band left off with 2011's dynamic Let Go, encapsulating the variety within the their uncompromising hardcore sound without progressing as such...

The hardcore genre as a whole is unoriginal. It seems that only 1 out of 5 bands really try to sound different, stand out, and push the limits of creativity. Hundredth is a band that I used to pigeon-hole with the majority, but their latest work, Let Go has made me think otherwise. Hundredth is a band that's capable of mixing in some new elements into their music while at the same time, staying true to the roots of hardcore...

Let Go is the follow-up album to Hundredth impressive debut When Will We Surrender on MediaSkare Records. Just over a year later Hundredth have produced 11 new songs and one cover. Slightly heavier than ...Surrender, Let Go is sure to be near the top of the best albums of 2011. Let Go is a big album, Chad Johnson's vocals are immense and each song is carefully crafted in Hundredth's hardcore style...

Hundredth may not change the world with Let Go, but they're certainly doing their damndest to foster and inculcate positivity in anyone who wraps their ears around it. Hardcore through and through, Myrtle Beach, South Carolina quintet blend the edginess of Comeback Kid, the all-out attack of Modern Life Is War and the compulsive melodies of Ignite to create an album that is overloaded with heart and unadulterated energy...

It's so very hard to find good Christian hardcore. There's something really soothing about hearing a message of God's encouragement via your favourite style of heavy music. And if melodic hardcore is your choice outlet, then you no doubt enjoyed Hundredth's 2010 debut When Will We Surrender. With them being easily the most capable and talented offering in Christian hardcore, I was very excited to hear their newest project, Let Go, which has come to us only a year and a half after their debut...

Moreover, if they are hardcore they are just a cheesy knock off or a bad imitation of what hardcore really is. This is where Hundredth comes in...

Release date: March 30, 2010 So, I understand some people may not like that I have a thing for reviewing hardcore albums and bands. However, I simply review what is important to me, not whatever anyone else wants. That being said,I just want to say thanks to people who like to read my reviews. But enough of that, I'm here to talk about a band that has been making HUGE waves in hardcore music and are defining their genre. I'm talking, of course, about Hundredth...
