Icon For Hire Reviews

Just two years ago Icon For Hire burst onto the music scene with Tooth & Nail Record's highest debut album to date. Two years later, they're back with a self-titled album. Icon For Hire is far from being Scripted (part two). The lyrical themes are the same, but the music has evolved. This album takes the best features from Scripted and improves upon them substantially. You'd be hard-pressed to find a track that doesn't include heavy electronic or hip-hop elements...

It's been an interesting chain of events since Icon For Hire hit the national scene with their 2011 release, Scripted. The group that originated as a church worship band, and signed to a label widely known as a home to Christian artists, has long denied that they were a Christian band. But not too long after their debut release, vocalist Ariel perhaps vented too openly on her blog by claiming their Christian fan base was chasing away other potential fans...

Summary: Although Icon For Hire cannot escape comparisons to other Christian bands, they are nonetheless a beast of their own, and a rather vicious one at that. 3 of 3 thought this review was well written The Christian rock scene is in a time loop. I blame Skillet's Collide for this unfortunate consequence (although one could note the impact of Evanescence's Fallen as well)...

Female fronted bands are not something that's new or will be going away anytime soon. With Paramore's recent rise to fame, any artist with mere resemblances has been compared to Hayley Williams. Out of respect for Icon For Hire, I will give them an unbiased review that isn't compared to the former. I've been interested in this American hard rock oufit hailing from Decatur, Illinois since their early beginnings in 2007...

For whatever reason, Tooth & Nail just hasn't really offered that many headline female-fronted artists in their lineup. But last year, we did get a dose of their latest sensation The Letter Black, whose vocals belonged to Sarah Anthony. But like some of the staff on JFH, I found The Letter Black to be generally lacking in sensation. However, on the heels of TLB's first album is the debut of another one of T&N;'s recent signings, Icon For Hire...

Buy 'Scripted' at: A debut album release can bring surprise and a sense of anticipation, nobody knows what you are going to sound like or what to expect from you. This can be said for new band Icon For Hire. Since 2007 the band have been establishing their strong following by touring extensively across Mid West America and this has now led to the band releasing their debut album titled Scripted...
