I've been a huge Infected Mushroom fan for just over a decade. Almost imminently I was drawn to the psychedelic vibes they were putting out. At the time I was just starting to really get into electronic music and Infected Mushroom was one of the few bands that stood out for me. And while I found the band's past few efforts weren't as strong as their earlier releases, I did enjoy them. Army of Mushrooms seems to continue that trend...

Check the heavy hitters all up in this piece: Jonathan Davis guests on Smashing the Opponent, Perry Farrell guests on Killing Time and Paul Oakenfold serves as executive producer. The stars are window-dressing though: The Davis song is passable but sounds like an old Depeche Mode jam, and the Farrell song sucks. That said, much of the rest of Shawarma is really interesting psytrance/progressive electronica that's fearless, interesting and interested...

The seventh full-length from Infected Mushroom was originally intended to be a concept record about the places in Israel where Haifa natives/band leaders Erez Eisen and Amit Duvdevani enjoy eating. But even they couldn't stomach that direction and gave up after a few tracks. When it's not offering culinary trance beats, Legend afflicts listeners with heavy guitars and vocals courtesy of Jonathan Davis, Korn's frontman. His work on Smashing The Opponent is intolerably boring...

The strangest thing about Infected Mushroom is not their squirty, talismanic collages of electronics, nor their name which must've come up after a long night of dismissing the lyrical sparkle of Unhygienic Elastic or Corruptible Pencil -- no, the strangest thing about these Israelian dance nutjobs is that they're actually rather good. Restrained samples for those that care. Torrential arrangements for those that don't...

Classical Mushroom, Infected Mushroom's second album, began quietly with dovetailing acoustic guitars and some washboard clack, and then carelessly tossed everything into a warped micro-anthology of spastic pianos, filthy acid, brutal Daft Punk bass, button-popping female samples, and big fat riffs of market-friendly symphonic trance...

An impressively varied collection from the Israeli duo Infected Mushroom, I'm the Supervisor adds a few more vocals than is their usual wont (in particular, the distorted, processed vocals on "Cities of the Future" recall the Prodigy) and massages the tempos more than some of their earlier albums, but is otherwise entirely of a piece...
