Ismael Miranda comes up with one of best albums in years, this time focusing on the Puerto Rican aguinaldo genre. Motivos de Mi Tierra is joyous music, with arrangements by Louis Garcia and the peerless Joaquin Mouliert guesting; the hit was "Se Acabo el Pan de Piquito" (composed by Tite Curet Alonso).

Ismael Miranda adds another superior effort to his extensive discography. The material is familiar, but recording- and arrangement-wise is an update and will be appreciated by incoming generations. Like most salsa acts of the '60s and '70s, it is material that merits reconsideration. Newer audiences seem to be rooting for the older generation performances that make the newer, romantic salsa performances seem pale and indifferent by comparison...

This is the album where Ismael Miranda pushes himself to the max, and it includes his smash hit "Maria Luisa" and the self-penned "La Cosa No Es Como Antes." These tunes were arranged by the highly prolific arranger Louie Ramirez; however, Jorge Millet's propulsive arranging concepts is what makes this production remain pertinent today (this was Millet's first collaboration with Miranda). This is like fire and ice combined, and is superbly recorded by Jon Fausty.
