James Keelaghan Concert Tickets

James Keelaghan is a Juno award-winning Canadian folk singer-songwriter born in Calgary, Alberta, now based in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Many of his songs, such as "Kiri's Piano", about the interment of Japanese Canadians, "October 70", about the FLQ crisis, are inspired by events and figures in Canadian history. Known for his lilting baritone voice, his driving rhythm guitar, and a keen sense of scene and narrative, Keelaghan’s music bridges traditional folk music with Canadiana. Keelaghan opens the album with David Francey's "Red-Winged Blackbird," an easy-flowing melody that finds hope in the bright wings of a bird in the midst of winter. Imagery of nature is featured prominently on a number of tunes...

Well established in the folk scene of his native country, Canadian troubadour James Keelaghan seeks a larger audience with his first major U.S. release, Road. The album ranges from historical ballads -- one of Keelaghan's favorite styles - to love songs and philosophical musings, all delivered with his down-to-earth singing and songwriting.
