Joe Satriani Reviews

Avg. Customer Rating:
5.0 (based on 9 reviews)

While fans of the guitar demi-god have been well served with live offerings, for those who want a one-stop guide to Satriani's arena antics, this is just the ticket. Disc One rounds up 13 classics from his catalogue stretching back to the 80s - and it's difficult to pick a highlight among such dazzling displays. Ice 9 opens proceedings in mesmeric fashion, Satch's guitar whirring and spinning like a jump-jockey with a theremin vacuuming a Ferrari...

Sound: The production is great. The sound value is precisely engineered to get the most out of every note played. This is before his signature Ibanez, so it more of a classic Satch tone. The opening harmonic riff on Up In The Sky is such an original sound, and literally makes you feel like your surfing in a cloud. He then displays on other track his blues phrasing abilities, mellow, ambient compositions, and near metal shred style...

Sound: The sound is very diverse for a Joe Satriani cd, actually 2 cds. There are 30 songs including two previously unreleased tracks. There are songs from not of this earth, Surfing with the Alien, The Extremist, Flying In a Blue Dream, etc. This is a very good compilation of Joe's songs. The styles he used are the same he uses on other albums (tremolo picking, pick scrapes etc). This is a great CD to get if you love Satch...

Sound: First off I would like to say that this is quite frankily one of the best cds that satch has ever made. The songs are heavier and even more memorable and amazing than his previous releases. The sound is very well done, the guitar sounds amazing, his techniques seem completly flawless. All in all simply amazing. I do not know of any stories that kind of make the songs. // 9 Lyrics and Singing: Out of eleven songs Satch sings in two, and they are in my opinion pretty decent...

Sound: 01. "Cool #9": my favorite song on the album. Joe uses a lot of effects, such as whammmy, wah-wah, and an octaver. The main riff is catchy and bluesy at the same time, which is awesome. 02. "If": a lot of octaver is used on this song. The highlight of the song is probably the solo. Not as great as some other songs on the CD. 03. "Down, Down, Down": One of the softer songs, but it does pick up. Joe lays down the slow blues in this song. 04...

Sound: Not at all what I expected to come out of joe in this cd, however it does offer a whole new tone to his style. I was expecting to here some flashy harmonizes lines all floating on top of a nice chord progression, but in this there is a lot more techno thing stuff (specifically Borg Sex) which was actually ok. I think it took a lot of courage to put himself on the line to branch off like that and I believe that it payed off...

Sound: First off this is one the best cds I own. I listen to this CD everyday. The sound is amazing, the songs are fantastic. For those that are already fans of Joe Satriani you have probably already guessed that there was no singing and there is no singing, but that does not prevent this CD from prevailing. Joe uses a wide range of skills in this cd. Example; in Midnight he two-hand taps the entire song, in a majority of the songs he tremolo picks and really shows off his skills as a guitarist...

Sound: Joe Satriani is at a place in his life and career where his shredding abilities are pretty much a confirmed force of nature. So on his latest album Professor Satchafunkilus and the Musterion of Rock, he never feels the need to go overboard by showing off his speed or technical prowess. Instead, Satriani's 11th studio album is an interesting mix of genres that demonstrates his ability to write eclectic and often surprising melodies...
