Ohio's Like Moths To Flames are sticking with what worked for them last time on the follow-up to 2011's When We Don't Exist. A pair of guests pop up (Shane Told of Silverstein sings on "Into The Ground" and Ahren Stringer of the Amity Affliction can be heard on "Lord Of Bones"), and each makes an impression, but the band's core sound--huge breakdowns; fast, metallic riffs with a surprising degree of melodic fluidity; screamed vocals; dashes of electronic production--remains largely unchanged,...

Sound: There's two basic types of bands in metalcore: the innovators (Killswitch Engage, Bring Me The Horizon, Glass Cloud) that take their sound and expand it over time into something mature, listenable, and appealing, and the followers (Abandon All Ships, That's Outrageous!, etc.), who take familiar patterns and trends and churn out mediocre albums off of an assembly line. LMTF's "Rise" full length firmly plants them among the ranks of the latter. Musically, this is standard scene-core...

It's not a huge stretch to imagine what a band's debut full-length is going to sound like if it's released on Rise; the label has a unfortunate, if not always deserved, reputation for signing scene metalcore acts and turning them out like a factory...

Let's not lie to ourselves here. In terms of metalcore, we've heard it all before and it's highly improbable that any band is going to pop up and redefine the genre. Columbus, Ohio's Like Moths to Flames certainly aren't doing it on their debut album, When We Don't Exist - but, in the same breath, I don't think they're pretending to be something they're not, nor are they posing as the messiahs who'll lead the scene on to greener pastures...

Release Date: November 8th, 2011 What do you think of when the Resident Evil film series comes to mind? Polished visual effects, edgy one liners, aggressive flairs, and everything that would normally be encompassed in gritty action movies. It's thrilling, it's gory, and for all intensive purposes you may very well enjoy it, despite its many faults and the meandering execution that reveal just how run of the mill the films really are. So what? Music can exhibit very similar characteristics...

Sound: Like Moths to Flames is a Hardcore/Metal band located in Columbus, Ohio. Coming out of a very strong music scene, Like Moths to Flames brings the heat. Frontman/Vocalist Chris Roetter has been around the music scene for a while. Previously of Agraceful and Emarosa, Roetter has experience throughout the years of making superb vocals. While the guitar in Like Moths to Flames isn't the most technical, it never lacks, and fits the style of music perfectly...

Hailing from Dayton, Ohio, US metallers Like Moths To Flames have been newly signed to Rise Records and are ready to jump into the deep end with their new EP 'Sweet Talker'. With a slick fade into the intro, 'Your Existence' is an explosive beginning to the EP. This high-octane track just oozes energy and sets a tone that is pretty similar to the likes of Greeley Estates and Bring Me The Horizon...

Sometimes, we wish that music could exist in a vacuum per se. With the current saturation of bands in genres across the gamut, a decent album ends up sounding more mediocre when you've heard the same album a dozen times with little to no difference between bands. Enter Like Moths to Flames. Sure, this is the third band in recent memory for vocalist Christopher Roetter, a man with a resume including stints in Emarosa and the now defunct Agraceful...

Release Date: December 14th, 2010 Like Moths to Flames presents the return of Chris Roetter, who was formerly the lead vocalist of Agraceful. While Agraceful did nothing new for music, one of the best things about the band was Chris's vocal talents, and that talent is the only thing that made me look forward to Like Moths to Flames. Recently signing to Rise Records, many will put this off as a simple-minded Rise band and most of you are correct...
