Mae Concert Tickets

Mae is an American rock band that formed in Norfolk Virginia in 2001. The band's name is an acronym for Multi-sensory Aesthetic Experience, which is derived from a concept called Multi-sensory Aesthetic Theory that drummer Jacob Marshall studied while a student at Old Dominion University. Jacob Marshall and Dave Elkins began what would become Mae by writing their first song, "Embers and Envelopes", in Marshall's living room. Mae Reviews

Sound: I bought this CD from a friends recommendation and it was in my stereo for about 2 months. The only reason I replaced it was because I bought the new Mae CD, Everglow. The sound of this CD is phenomenal. I was absolutely astounded when I heard that most of it is live performances. Unfortunately I missed my chance to see them in a local show. The guitar work on this album isn't quite something I would call great or even good. It's definetely not hard to play...

Sound: The sound on this album is phenomenal. It's not nessecarily groundbreaking, or incredibly unique, but it works really well with the Dave's voice. I really like the sound of We're So Far Away, the second track on the album. Overall, the sound is good, and it works with Dave's voice, but could be more unique. // 8 Lyrics and Singing: The lyrics are absoloutly fabulous. They are obviously well thought out, and if they're rushed, it doesn't show. I really like the lyrics in every song...

Sound: A Singularity is the point in a black hole where the pull of gravity is so great, that everything getting sucked in is compressed to a mass no bigger than an atom. Mae liked that an author used it to describe "the ultimate unknowable in science, the interface between the natural and the supernatural." They define their album "Singularity" as "about stepping back to see a bigger picture. It is about struggling to see yourself as an important part of that picture...

Mae is an American alternative/indie band that formed in Norfolk, Vriginia in 2001. The band's name is an acronym for "Multi-sensory Aesthetic Experience" based on a course taken by drummer Jacob Marshall while a student at Old Dominion University. The band who have been together since 2001 have now called it a day, and decided to release their final three EPs named Morning, Afternoon & (e)vening. Copies of a limited release edition were available on the band's 'Goodbye, Goodnight' tour...

With (e)vening, Norfolk, Virginia's Mae are not only rounding out the trilogy started with (m)orning and continued with (a)fternoon (both released in 2009) but also their career; while the members may have since gone their separate ways, they have left fans with one of the strongest releases of their 10-year existence...

In 2009, Mae released the first of three EPs using their name as an acronym. Though the third installment, (e)vening, has been available at live shows for some time, it has finally seen its retail release via Tooth & Nail Records. For those of you who are not aware, I have bad news: This will be Mae's final release. They recently wrapped up their "Goodbye, Goodnight Tour...

Summary: Like watching The Everglow from a field at night. 8 of 8 thought this review was well written Three cheers for knowing your strengths. At the very least, if Mae didn't know them before (e)vening, they should do now...

Summary: (y)awn 3 of 3 thought this review was well written Afternoon is the peak time of productivity for the human civilization. The same cannot be said for Mae. (a)fternoon is the second release in Mae's series of concept EPs, appropriately placed between early 2009's (m)orning and late 2010's (e)vening. (m)orning, while far from perfect, showed a band that was willing to experiment...

Summary: (e)vening is a transcendental experience that gives one the sensation of a night underneath the starlit sky in a green pasture. 7 of 7 thought this review was well written I have always thought of evening as a time of reflection. Some of my most profound thoughts have come while lying in bed, just staring at the ceiling and waiting to fall asleep...
