Sound: Mayhem is one of the greatest black metal bands ever. Mayhem may have the usual formula of most norweigian black metal bands wich is blast beats, heavy guitar, and shriecking vocals but there is something special about this album that I cant put my finger on it. The beginning of the tale of this album begins in 1992, Mayhem was getting ready to record De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas, but Mayhem did not have a singer until later on in the sessions in March 1993, when Attila Cshiar joined...

Sound: This Mayhem album must be one of the most underrated albums of all times. Mostly because of the electronica track. Maybe because of their speech-like way of expressing their lyrics. But make no mistake, this album really delivers a blazing fast and catchy kind of metal. One of a kind in fact! The intro song, Grand Declaration of War is an atmospheric and slow song which increases speed about halfway through. Unforgettable...

Score another one for the Dubline Team. Shadow Law head honcho Mayhem racks up a sick sick release here that'll tickle fancies all over the place. 'Sensi' is one that's loaded with sub. And when we say loaded, we mean LOADED. This is one of Mayhem's best bits yet! The spacious vibe and chest-rattling sub is one to look out for. Backed up with 'Tristate' and this 12 just gets better and better. Another subbass rattler but with some hidden wobbles as well...

Sound: Ordo Ad Chao, is as it's title says: Chaotic! I'm not saying it's bad, but if you are going to enjoy this album, you better have an open ear. The guitars drown in the bass, and bells is louder than anything, the drums are blazingly fast, the riffs are chromatic and literally evil and frightening. The atmosphere is the darkest I have yet had my hands on. The technical drumming of Jan Axel is so fast you start wondering f he is a machine...

Sound: I new to Mayhem, the band got me interested by theyr biography. Deaths and suicides are surounding the band. But now I'm talking about theyr first (mini) album Deathcrush. The albums sound is very unique. The drums are complicated and great sounding, the guitars are very trebly, the bass is probably one of the best thing in this album, it's overdriven so it sounds very dark and compressed. The vocals are the best part in this album...

Subway presents their second release by somebody who has been collaborating with d'n'b's hottest name to date: Noisia! We're talking about Mayhem of course. This melodic mastermind had cooked up two dubstep tracks that are just too good to just be laying around. The first one is 'Split Second,' a dead-serious techno roller with a grande hollow stab that will cause damage on the dancefloor! The flip holds down the ever-so massive 10 ton...

Sometimes, it really is the vocal delivery that makes
or breaks a band. Keep in mind the fact that we're separating
delivery from lyrical content here. In Mayhem's harsh
metal world, the lyrical content is even recognizable
at times. Unfortunately, the delivery is the band's
own nemesis, as it clotheslines the music to an
awkward standstill...

Warning: extremely graphic cover photo of their singer, not long after his rather messy shotgun suicide. Besides that, and the performance of equally dead guitarist Euronymous (who perhaps snapped said photo after sampling some delectable brain, or so he bragged), this live album has renditions of Venom and Celtic Frost classics to recommend it.
