Where do we even begin with Motion City Soundtrack? Over their 10 year lifespan, they've released four completely different sounding albums, each one developing upon their unique blend of power-pop and pop-punk that they fashioned on their debut album, "I Am the Movie" and each one criminally underrated...

This three-track release marks the latest installment of the 'Making Moves' series of EP's, which has seen Drexel University's MAD Dragon Records team up with Motion City Soundtrack's own Boombox Generation label to put out EP's from emerging artists. This sixth edition sees a release from the band themselves, comprising of two original tracks and a cover of Rilo Kiley's 'Pictures of Success'...

Motion City Soundtrack, although a band dogged by personal struggles and addictions, have always been associated with infectious, positive, pop-punk anthems. Their latest album, 'My Dinosaur Life', keeps up that momentum, storming in with opening track 'Worker Bee', which sets the tone for the whole record, with its catchy guitar riffs, sentimental lyrics and sing-a-long chorus...

When I opened the link for Motion City Soundtrack's newest release Making Moves vol. 6, I was kind of convinced that I'd been sent the wrong site. I mean, there were only three songs. And for all I know, this is the completely wrong set of tracks that I'm reviewing, who knows? But here it is. The Making Moves project is a collaboration between Mad Dragon Music and Motion City Soundtrack's record label Boombox Generation, releasing a series of 7" records by emerging artists, culminating in a 7"...

The Making Moves 7" series, curated and produced by Motion City Soundtrack, is clearly a labor of love for the band, as well as a way to showcase some emerging artists. For the final installment of the series, they offer two new tracks of their own, as well as a cover displaying very three different sides of the band, with somewhat mixed, but overall enjoyable results...

Release Date: November 6, 2012 Ever since Motion City Soundtrack first showed the world the opening to an (at the time) untitled track on youtube earlier this year, it seemed as if people were getting pretty excited about a 2012 that held much promise for the band. As expected, their fifth full length album, Go, was well received by fans, with its more mature sound showing that the band seems to have really progressed, whilst maintaining the characteristics that one has come to expect from...

This review originally ran in AP 293. For the sixth and final installment of the Making Moves 7-inch series, curators Motion City Soundtrack close it out with some incredibly strong original material, as well as a well-executed cover. "Severance" is an airy, slowed-down shoegaze number with ringing guitars and delicate piano, unexpectedly exploding around the two-minute mark into a ripping, triumphant guitar solo...

Sound: It's revenge of the sith with MCS's fifth studio album, "Go". The boys haven't strayed far from the tried and true method of poppy riffs and Justin's imaginative, metaphorical writing style. Each song has a story to tell and progresses the record in a well paced manner. The deluxe disc offers three additional tracks, all of which, in my opinion, deserve to be on the main track list. To understand the musical style on "Go" you can read over reviews from all four past records...

Salt Lake City. June 18. 7:30 p.m. Standing in line outside the Motion City Soundtrack show: "Municipal Waste is playing here on the 18th. What's today?" "The 18th." "How is that possible? I want to see Municipal Waste." "Shut up, Tori. We're seeing Motion City Soundtrack." "But I..." "No." And with that we walked into Salt Lake City's In the Venue, which was a much smaller room than I imagined a band like Motion City Soundtrack would be playing at this point in their career...
