When I first watched the video for the opening song "Growin' Up In California", I had the feeling that this brand-new album could well be the first Night Ranger album of real interest again since "Man In Motion", their last great studio album of the 80s. Everything the band has released since then was certainly not of the same (high) quality as the stuff they served us up with in the 80s...

Night Ranger returns with their tenth studio album, Somewhere in California, in their better than 30 year career. This new album might strike a better chord with long time fans who were disappointed with the so-called more modern sound of the previous Hole in the Sun. Somewhere in California runs more towards that anthem-like arena ready sound that made the Eighties famous...

"I Need a Woman" and "This Boy Needs to Rock," the titles of two of the songs on 7 Wishes, neatly encapsulate both Night Ranger's interests and its appeal. Same goes for heavy smoker "Interstate Love Affair," a tune previewed in Teachers (They just don't write 'em like that anymore)...

Night Ranger, like many bands on CMC International, were simply playing for the fans in the '90s. They knew that they would never have a hit like "Sister Christian" ever again, but they wanted to continue making music, and there were enough fans out there to go to their concerts...

Unlike many of their pop-metal contemporaries, Night Ranger's early work has aged quite well, and this excellent 1982 debut is a well-kept secret of the genre. Dripping with hooks and irresistible choruses, "Don't Tell Me You Love Me," "Sing Me Away," and "Young Girl in Love" are simply outstanding songs. Anyone doubting the band's ability to rock out need only listen to the vicious bursts of "Eddie's Comin' Out Tonight" and "Play Rough...

Night Ranger's last album, "Somewhere In California" (2011), was a direct hit and I suppose that many of our many loyal visitors have been looking forward to their next effort. Let me come straight to the point: "High Road" - the eleventh studio album in their successful career - offers everything that we've all been longing for...
